Raku artist Aron Frogge's inspiration flows from the landscape of her native Arizona, and her work, infused with the colors of the desert earth and evening sky, displays the forms and textures of its mountains and rock formations. Her pieces are hand formed ceramic which are kiln-fired until they glow orange (approximately 1700 degrees Farenheit). When pulled from the kiln, the objects are immersed in dry leaves, newspaper or sawdust, then quickly reduced. The finished results are highly spontaneous. The lead-free glazes may produce a subtle iridescent sand texture, a metallic luster, or a smooth crackle finish. Black areas occur where no glaze is applied. No two objects will ever be exactly alike. Aron's creative vision combined with the organic nature of the Raku process result in collectible works of depth and distinction.
