Works great with Boss ES-5, Only after all software is updated on the ES-5 to ver. 2
So, here's the deal , I wrote a previous review that this did not work with my Boss ES-5, I kept getting midi communication error , So I figured that I had to buy the Roland UM-one MK2 that was listed on the Boss Support page as basically tried and true. I finally received that and thought great, I will be finally able to program my ES-5, hooked it up and got the same error. Well here's what I did , I got the latest driver for the UM-ONE mk2 and loaded that on my MacBook pro, now I had lights blinking on the UM-ONE, great, still no communications with the ES-5, then I went to Boss and found out how to check the software version on the ES-5, Ah...it's old 1.00 something, needs to be updated , you have to go through all the steps to get the new drivers from Boss then get a player to load them onto the Boss ES-5, and after that you unplug it to turn it off and turn it back on by plugging it back in , open the ES-5 Editor and go to option , pick UM-one on both send and receive and whammo it all works, then I thought maybe I should try the Bluetooth mi.1 once again, I turned off the ES-5 plugged in the Mi.1 in the in and outs and restarted it, went through the steps to connect the Mi.1 through Bluetooth and then opened up the Boss ES-5 editor, Option tab and then selected mi.1 on both pull downs followed by connect and guess what , works as though your ES-5 always had bluetooth. This is the trick setup, although I thought I had to use the Roland UM-on k2 to download the new software to the ES-5, I bet I could have done it with the mi.1 and saved the $40 Spent on the UM-One . Oh well , I have a back up if the Bluetooth ever gives up on me.

Beat Buddy, VoiceLive 3, OnSong!
I used this to connect my Beat Buddy and VoiceLive 3 to OnSong on my iPad. Works great! I looked at videos online to understand how everything is supposed to be connected and it works!! I'm amazed and thankful this product exists. There is another wireless midi product made by Yamaha, but I choose this one because it is more compact. The Yamaha one stick out too far.I've been using this for a few weeks and so far so good.

smallest Bluetooth MIDI adapter out there
The adapter is the most compact MIDI adapter currently (Dec 2018) available that allows connection to a MIDI device via Bluetooth. Unlike other similar adapters, this Quicco brand adapter comes with instructions about how to connect and even how to update the firmware. It works great and the low physical profile makes it easy to leave this apater always connected. Currently using several of these to send MIDI simultaneously to a guitar pedal, keyboard, and digital mixer.

Bluetooth connection drops constantly
Really cool technology, but the bluetooth connection from the mi.1 to my iPad kept going in and out when connected to the KORG Gadget app via MIDI sent from Ableton Live on my Mac. It would be working fine with only a tiny noticeable bit of latency, then the connection would drop after like 5 seconds of notes. I really wanted this to work, but it just doesn't seem stable, even with the latest firmware update. Time to try to Yamaha version.

Lights come on.. nobody's home...
Does not work. I don't get it. Followed the instructions (how complicated can it be, right?) That didn't work. So then -- Tried everything, every combination, every kind of configuration. Still nothing worked.Got the light to come on, but that was it.Downloaded the app. Tried to update firmware. Nothing.Powered up; powered down; dozens of times. More plugging and unplugging and powering up and down. Nothing.Maybe my Ipad is somehow incompatible. Dunno. It doesn't work.

Simply awesome. Awesomely simple.
I create song demos and tutorials in GarageBand. I use the mi.1 to control GarageBand on my iPhone 6 from an external keyboard controller. So far I have used my Nord Stage 88 (at home) and Behringer UMA-25S (on the go). Both work flawlessly without any latency issues. Up and running in just a few minutes. I previously used Apple's camera connection kit -- the Quicco mi.1 has eliminated the clunky tangle of wires and adapters, and keeps the phone's Lightning port free for charging.

This product works beautifully with an iOS app that I created which is called PIANOSTREAM. It solves a big problem with the Mark4 yamaha disklavier. The other two bluetooth midi devices out there are too big. This one is perfect.

and then use something like Forscore, you can now get Forscore to send ...
Got this for an eventide H9 that I have. You can't send midi over bluetooth directly to the eventide, and their app doesn't support iOS multitasking. So it's a PAIN IN THE BUTT to switch presets. However, if you get one of these, plug it into your H9, then download their app, pair it to your iPad, and then use something like Forscore, you can now get Forscore to send midi patch changes to the H9 via this mi.1. Works great.
