Awesome unique kite!
What an awesome kite. You'll be the only one on your block with this guy. It flies well with fairly good control. I would recommend it to anyone, as long as they don't live on my block.

Never got it off the ground
I could'nt get this kite in the air no matter how hard I tried. Not even in a strong wind. I tried by myself and I tried with another person. Never got it off the ground and when we did it would not stay in the air. I wouldn't buy it agian. I'm sorry I bought it the first time. A waste of money if you ask me.

will only fly in high winds, but it looks great
This is a great looking kite. Unique design, you would stand out even at the beach or a crowded park.looks are great but this kite is pretty high maintenance. it will only fly in high winds > 15-20 mph.. just look at the size of the wings. very small surface area so they cant generate that much lift. Also, what you cannot see from the picture: the kite is not "tight", that is, there is too much "skin" and not enough bone/skelton. The metal frame is solid and strong, but the surrounding nylon skin material is very loose. (think of a sailboat sail that is untied at the bottom, it will flap all over and the boat wont move forward). so if you combine loose skin and an already too small wing surface area, you get a kite that will struggle getting up in the air. There is a high risk/reward factor with this kite. meaning, if you get this kite up, you will be rewarded with lots of compliments and praise from people. However, there is high risk in that you may look silly struggling to get a basic-shaped kite in the air when there are children around flying their kites with no problem. The winds kicked up so i finally got the kite flying. it looked nice. But because the winds kicked up so much (the kite required so much speed), many people at the park went home.

Bat kite!
Bought this kite because I thought it looked really cool. Reminded me of a new version of the old "Gayla" bat kites I flew as a kid. We own several other kites and this one is my favorite in the looks department.First off, this is not a kite for beginners or children. It is NOT and "easy up" kite. I was almost ready to toss it as just being a bad kite design, but then gave it a few more tries. Persistence and medium constant wind is key. This is not a very large kite but it is wide, it since it is wide it likes to "walk" (move side to side) in the air when not being tended to.This is a VERY fickle kite. It swoops and it spins but is almost always recoverable if you play the line right. No, it's not a stunt kite, but it will give you a few thrills and loops that make it work figuring out how to fly.The first time I did get it up, and got it into a nice air stream it was a very fun kite to fly, requiring constant attention and adjustments to line tension. My wife has an "EZ-Fly" kite and all you have to do with that one is find the wind direction and it goes up and away. Not this bat kite. Tension, slack, tension, slack, it wants to fight you for the first 100' of line or so threatening to dive or loop back down. You want something brainless to fly? This is not your kite. You want a kite that takes some attention and looks really cool while flying? Then you will be as happy as I am with this kite. Simple as that.Enjoy!

i dont know why that person gave this kite a bad review
i was a little concerned when i first got this guy out of the package and assembled. he wasnt as taught as i imagined him to be based on other kites i have, but he flew beautifully. seriously. as soon as we walked onto the field he practically leaped out of my hand because he "wanted" to fly and was up in no time. there wasnt great wind that day and unfortunately we didnt get to fly much, but he flew as much as any of the other standard kites we brought and was the envy of everyone who went. great buy. very cool.

Easy all around
It's easy to set up, and easy to fly. I like to yank the string a little so it actually looks like a bat flapping around. For some reason I really enjoy this kite, it has character.
