KEENMen's Targhee 3 Mid Waterproof Wide Hiking Boots

Comfortable and waterproof
I wanted a pair of everyday lightweight boots for summer dog walking, they had to be waterproof, comfortable and modestly priced these ticked all the boxes. Have worn them for two weeks they fit like glove and the heel grip system works, they have mid size toe box, measurements available on Keen website.Have walked through long wet grass and hosed them off to clean them, no sign of water penetration so far. They look robust and the smooth Nubuck looks good after applying G-wax. Probably not the most popular colour hence a good price but who cares when they are wet and muddy!Update; have had the boots for 28 months and used them regulary, estimate over 1500 miles walking, sadly they have reached the end of their useful life. The faux rubeerrised textile rand was the weak point. started to crack and diintegrate after about 18 months but has now failed structurally. Amazingly, although the waterproof liner is exposed .the boots are still waterproof!

New design doesn't last.
Sadly, the new design is flawed and they don't last. Both boots have split in the same place after 12 months. Other than the split the boots are still in good condition but obviously they are no longer water proofThese are my second pair of these boots, they are really comfortable and with a wide toe box (which is why I bought another pair when my first pair fell apart after a lot of walking).

So far…. So so far. So good
I wore these straight out of the box, and went on a 22 mile hike. Up and down peaks, through mud, scrambling up and down large rocks and gritstone edges, and through a bog by accidentThe boots have kept my feet dry, and comfortable, with no leakage, great grip, and they are light enough that I haven’t noticed the weight. I haven’t really thought about them all day except to pray they are as waterproof as they state. In the bog, they were, although 24 hours later, they still look to be slightly wet.The one thing I do notice about Keen Targhee III (i have the shoe version as well), is that small stones can get stuck in the sole near the ball of the foot when the shoes bends as you step forward.

So far so good
To preface, I arrived in the UK a couple weeks before a trip to Iceland, and I found out the hiking boots I brought were not fitted as good as I thought they were. So, I needed a new pair of boots that were waterproof, warm, and most importantly, comfortable because I'd have no time to break them in. Due to the immense praise I read about the Keen's comfort and since I have wider feet, I decided to take my chance on them. After owning them for about a month now, they are extremely comfortable. There was a day where they were slightly uncomfortable, but, after figuring out the best way to knot them for my foot, they were great again. I also tested them in a few rivers and waterfalls, and they kept my feet dry; however, it was not any intense wetting on them. I am aware of the persistent issue of the soles coming apart, so I will update this review if I get to that point. Keen does have a 1-year warranty on the boots though, so if that issue does come up during the 1-year period, they can be replaced for free. My experience with these boots so far has been great, and I really enjoy these boots.Update: Unfortunately, after only two months of use, the sole on the left boot started to delaminate. While I did do some pretty tough hikes, it was nothing that should cause the sole to come apart so early on. However, I did a warranty claim with Keen through Amazon, and I was refunded for the boots very easily, which is why I'm only taking off one star. If you are like me and still want comfortable boots with wide toe boxes, I would try going for the Targhee IVs, which have a lifetime warranty on the soles delaminating.

Don’t last a year, even with medium use
Bought these on 28th March this year and, to begin with I loved them. Very comfortable and a nice wide toe box. However, with medium use and under 300 miles walked they are absolutely shredded. They’ve come away at the sole, the toe protectors are hanging off and the material has split. No linger waterproof, obviously. Useless. I simply can’t risk another pair with this performance.

Very comfortable - nice and wide
I have very broad feet and often need to size up for correct fit. For these boots, I have a UK 10. My trainers are UK 8.5 and Columbia hiking shoes are UK 9.Having worn these for about 10 long walks, they're extremely comfortable. The lacing system keeps them firmly on the foot. There is space for toes to wiggle whilst not allowing the boot to move and cause blisters. They seem very well made. Much better than Columbia (returned 3 pairs within 6 weeks) and Northface (lasted a year). I especially like the wrap-around rubber over the toe area. I'm sure it provides some protection for toes but equally, it provides protection for the boot upper; really great if like me you live somewhere rocky or often crouch, neel or otherwise would scuff the front of the boots. They're not overly warm which is great in a waterproof boot.I hope that when these do eventually wear out, they still make the same boot to the same quality. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

Wider, than normal, but not wide, very comfortable straight out of the box.
Already have two pairs of these boots. Purchased again as they are a great fit for me and possibly the most comfortable boots purchased straight out of the box. Quite a rugged tread pattern and quite stiff but solid and well cushioned. Perhaps not the most beautiful boot but practical and well made for the price point.

Not Keen
I have purchased a number of keen products and really like the brand. Their wide fitting foot ware is really comfortable. However these boots have not been up to the keen standard. This was the second pair after returning the first. The same issue occurred where the the main part of the boot cracked and came away from the sole. Very disappointed and I think keen needs to have a keen look at the way this product is designed and manufactured.John

My favorite boot/shoe
I purchased these boots 3 days prior to late deer season '24 in North Eastern Washington. These were supposed to be my normal everyday shoe but by the time opening day rolled around I reached for these instead of my hunting boots. These boots are light, sturdy, comfortable, waterproof but doesn't swamp your foot in sweat, and true to size. The materials used are all high quality and I really appreciate the tread pattern. So far my foot has been warm and dry. Will update after deer season.

Boots were critically damaged after 5 months
The boots are declared as wear-resistant, high-strength. Cracked 5 months after purchase. I was very disappointed and upset by the poor quality. This is completely different from what I expected for almost $170.This fact does not negate the fact that the shoes are very comfortable. One of the disadvantages is that shoelaces are constantly being loosened.
