Battery for Apple iPad Mini 2 Replacement Battery Kit for A1489, A1490, A1491 with Repair Tools Kits

tl;dr:Cheap, better tools than many, weak adhesive, non-trivial job, mediocre runtime.Summary:For a while my old iPad Mini 2 wouldn't hold a charge for more than 10 minutes, but then a month ago it refused to even power up, so I bought this battery, hoping to bring it back from the dead. I've done screens and batteries on hundreds of iPhones and dozens of iPads, so I knew going in that this is not a job for a newbie. If you want to try, see my other reviews for tips and suggestions that will make the job at least a little bit easier. I gave it 4 stars for easy-of-install because that aspect is Apple's fault, not HDCKU's.Installation:The included toolkit is better than average, but needs some help. The business end of the metal case separator isn't as sharp as it should be, but the sides are much sharper than necessary, so wrap most of it in electrical or duct tape to keep from cutting your hand. The scraper is good enough that it's now a permanent resident in my iThing traveling repair kit. The screwdrivers are surprisingly decent and the spinning ends makes them much easier to use with such tiny screws. The screen adhesive, on the other hand, is lousy. Despite cleaning both surfaces of ALL of the old stickum, making sure the new strips were in all the right places, and pressing firmly overnight (weighted under some big books), the screen still tries to climb out. Fortunately the case reins it in, so that's not a deal-breaker.Most important: LongevityEven with this battery, it doesn't run as long as my other iPad Mini 2 still with the original battery: heavy-drain apps like watching video and some games go for about an hour, versus 3 hours on the other Mini. So, the problem is either the unit itself or the battery. That said, it's usable again and my kids don't have to fight over it since we have two working ones again. (Don't worry - they find plenty of other things to fight about.)

Didn't see any reviews on this one, so figured we'd put one in.The tools that come with this battery are ok. The blade to get through the adhesive to open the ipad could be better. The screw driver was not great either, and this kit is lacking an acceptable tool to take out the battery that is already in the ipad. And it came with no directions at all. Fortunately, there are plenty of videos you can watch that show you what to do.I can't comment on how good or bad the battery itself works, because it isn't working. However, I'm not going to blame the battery for that. Our Ipad had a bad battery, and has been sitting around for a year. I have replaced several iphone and macbook batteries with no issues at all, so we figured it was worth spending $25 to see if we could get this working. Now, with the new battery, you can plug it in and you can tell it is charging (gets warm on the back), but it still will not turn on. If I get it working and can comment on the battery life later, I'll update this review. For now, if our other Ipad's battery goes, we will probably spend a few bucks more to get a better toolkit.

Batteries in ipad were not meant to be replaced. They are so glued in that it is impossible to get them out. Once I did, I couldn't glue it down because of the glue breaker I had to use. Ipad never worked again!

Battery doesn't hold charge well. Drains faster than the 8yr old battery it's replacing and the old one is bad. Also drops consistently while on but sleeping or not in use. Now i'm looking elsewhere for another battery so I can open this thing up again.
