Not tied to electrical outlet.
A compact nebulizer that produces cool and heated mist. It uses proprietary Crane vaporpads that are smaller than most. It seems that you could trim another company’s pads and use them. The Crane pads currently come only in a nice eucalyptus and menthol scent. The device produces cool mist almost immediately and heated mist in about 30 seconds. There is no temperature control on the device but if it becomes uncomfortably warm you can reduce the temperature by pulling the mask away from your face slightly. Operation is cordless and the device is easy to use, clean and charge. It operates in 15 minute sessions before turning off automatically. A charge seems to last for 3 to 4 sessions.

***DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM!!!***
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this to help with a sinus infection. It worked very well 2-3 times and in the middle of using it, it just stopped working. It has a slight vibration to it while on. And I felt it suddenly stop as if the motor gave out. It no longer heats or produces steam. I am currently trying to find a way to get my money back for it. When I went to initiate a return, I was told it was non-returnable. I am absolutely livid about it!!! I was sold a defective product and now they’re saying I can’t return it!? That is unacceptable. I went with this brand over the more popular Vick’s brand because it was slightly cheaper. BIG mistake! Hopefully I will get this sorted out. But in the meantime I don’t have what I need for relief from sinus pain. I am just sick about it. :( DO NOT BUY!! Wasted myTime and money on this. I hardly ever write reviews. But I am so very upset about this.

Worth the price
Bought this item to help provide direct humidity for a family member who has a new tracheostomy. This provides cool or warm mist, is portable, and uses regular tap water, so no need to buy distilled water. The unit is small and handy, as well as sturdy, not a flimsy product. Definitely worth the price!

Very hot
Tank holds enough water to last about 20-25 minutes. One star removed because steam is extremely hot

A great relief.
When I get a cold, the congestion is bad enough that I run out of breath trying to cough. I have found that warm moist air is the only thing that helps. The Crane EE-5948 Inhaler makes it EASY to stop my cough.I love that it takes regular water instead of cartidges. I user filtered water since our town supply is very hard. I just fill it at our filtered tap and take it with me during the day. It has never leaked, and a single fill is good for about four or five 15 minute sessions.Battery life is great. On a single recharge I can get 3 or 4 sessions of warm mist on the high setting. Which means I can fill it and charge it once a day under most conditions. During the active part of a cold I may need to charge twice a day. When it is not being used, I push the silicone mask back over the body of the unit to make it more compact and speed drying. The mist is comfortably warm. I might like it a bit warmer, but it is warm enough to stop my cough. I don't use it on cool mist, so I can't comment on that.In summary, Crane EE-5948 Inhaler is a great product at a great price. I strongly recommend it.

Expensive, Not Returnable, and Not Enough Steam
I had high hopes for this steam inhaler, but am disappointed by the volume and temperature of the steam it produces, even on the higher setting. I did not realize (which is my bad) that the item is not returnable, which is very disappointing given how expensive it is. Its portability is nice. However, after purchasing a Vick's inhaler that you have to plug in and produces a bounty of warm steam, I can't say that portability outweighs deficiencies of other features.

Winter comfort device
Here in Colorado, winters are really dry! Noses and throats can get really dry and miserable in the low humidity. This thing is soothing and wonderful to use while reading a book or watching TV. Easy to set up and clean up. The warm mist is comforting and really adds needed moisture to the nose and throat. A little high priced but I’m super satisfied with the purchase.

Do you want lung cancer? That's what this smells like it could cause
The first one worked for a few months but then stopped producing ANY steam. I've done nothing but use this as a steamer. So I decided to go ahead and order another one even though that one shouldn't have broken. The new one is DISGUSTING in the way that it smells like very unsafe chemicals that you are supposed to inhale. It's really really bad. Totally unusable and nothing like the original that broke. I have tried washing several times including in the dishwasher.. This product is not useable unless you want to risk inhaling very strong very bad smelling chemicals into your lungs. It feels like you would be causing future lung cancer. No joke. It is really bad and I've wasted ANOTHER $60 on this piece of junk. And there is no way to contact sellers anymore. Take my advice and order a different steamer
