Buy this mix! So delicious!
I don’t typically cook or bake from mixes- I enjoy cooking & baking, and I’m pretty good at it, and mixes feel a little like cheating- plus they never taste (to me) as good as homemade. But, I made a couple of different recipes for Belgian Waffles and they just weren’t as good as I wanted them to be.My son is obsessed with waffles and was disappointed with everything we tried- whether frozen waffles, different recipes- except from expensive breakfast restaurants, which wasn’t feasible for regular waffle consumption, lol.I saw this, ordered two packages, and tried them out. And?THEY ARE AMAZING! They come out perfect every single time. The mix is really thick, seemed too thick when I made it the first time, but it wasn’t. MThey are somehow both dense and fluffy at the same time. Crispy on the outside, fluffy and delicious inside. There are the little pieces of pearl sugar in the batter that cook up crunchy and delicious and make them that much better and more authentic. They are seriously so good I’ve served them for company for brunch, and for dinner for guests- they make the BEST chicken and waffles. You can make them and freeze them individually and then reheat in the oven or air fryer for a quick weekday breakfast.Just buy this and try it if you’re looking for waffle mix, trust me! It’s so worth it.

Easy Fancy Waffles. SUGAR YUMMAGE!
Super easy to use. and make Tasty waffles. What stopped me before from making Belgian waffles was the complexity of the recipie. Well, this mix makes the process FAST and YUUMY. I added even more sugar bits (Lars) and made a triple batch which used two mix bags. Delicious. The batter is thick, so I used an ice cream scoop to dip and measure out the right amount of a home-crafted like waffle. Absoutely phenomenon of yummy. Fresh and Buttery. No syrup required. Breakfast and dessert as an option. I Wish the company would make a larger bulk bag to feed my family of five. I could write more, but I am still eating the delights. So good, so buttery and light sugar crunches.

Good, but very sweet
My family really liked these, the pearl sugar makes it a real treat. However, even the batter was very sweet. Go easy on the toppings. Our second batch, we had chicken & waffles and the savory really helped balance them out.

The “hard balls” are crucial!
Some reviewers expressed concern about the hard balls within the mix. I felt it might be helpful to share that these are absolutely crucial to making this types of Belgian waffle. There are two types of Belgian waffles. There’s the light crisp large deep dented kind that most people in the US are familiar with: the Brussels Belgian waffle. Then there is the luscious, gooey (still deep dented) and intermittently crunchy Liege waffle—the mix here is for this type of Belgian waffle. The crucial ingredient is hard “pearl sugar” made from sugar beets. When cooked in the waffle iron, some melt while others have a slight crunch/texture to them. The result is heavenly and once you’ve had the Liege Belgian waffle, if you’re like me, you won’t go back to the Brussels Belgian waffle. Here’s a tip: the consistency when mixed is not liquidy…it should be more like cookie dough. Make a ball a little larger than the size of a ping pong ball to cook in your waffle maker.

The sugar pearls makes these delicious!
These tastes like the Belgium waffles at specialty waffle shops such as Bruges in Utah and Waffle Window in Oregon. The sugar pearls carmalize perfectly in waffle iron. I set iron around 375 degrees (the sugar pearls will burn if it’s hotter than 390). These already have a vanilla flavor but I add a dab of high quality Mexican vanilla to batter. No syrup is needed since these are already sweetened with the sugar pearls. My favorite topping is berries and cream. Delicious! We make this as a dessert instead of a breakfast.

TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE,!
Where do I start? Recipe is wrong on package, wrong amount of milk! Ad clearly states “PEARL SUGAR”, but surprise, surprise, no “PEARL SUGAR”. Taste is close but without the correct Pearl Sugar, the consistency and texture are not right. $10.00 for this Fantastique FAKE BELGIAN WAFFLE MIX, not worth the money. Only made 6 waffles. This waffle mix is a FAIL.

Disappointed…. Son prefers bisquick. I agree bisquick is so much better!
I’ve been using bisquick pancake mix and adding 2 tbsps of oil per cup to make Belgian waffles. It’s perfect! My 8 year old son loves them and I do too! I bought a waffle iron as a gift and wanted to include waffle mix and bought this because it looked fancier, I bought one for myself as well and made them this morning. They were not the right texture for waffles. They were much more like pancakes…. Sweet, sugary pancakes. My son didn’t like them at all either.

A special treat, a little tedious to clean up after
These were very simple to make and they were delicious! Everyone in my family loved them. One package was enough to feed my family of six for one breakfast. My four kids are between the ages of 5 and 10. Because of the sugar pearls (which put the waffles over the edge) it was more of a pain to clean my waffle iron but I'd say for a once in a while treat it was worth it. I will definitely purchase this mix again.
