Size: 108 x 48 , triptych, 3 times 36 x 48 inches This is a triptych, 3 36 x 48 canvas that can be exhibited with or without any spaces in between the three canvas. I was inspired to paint this landscape by the repetition and variation in the rhythm of the trees trunks. This rhythm is being interrupted in some places by the growth of new branches. In this painting I did further explore the tension between opposite concepts, like the symmetry of geometric patterns and the asymmetry of organic designs, transparency and solidity, reality and imagination. This landscape although rooted in reality becomes fictional by the addition of repetitive patterns, reminiscent the cross hatching traditionally used in drawing. If you look closer at the painting, you can see the whole trees are covered by cross hatched areas depicting the bark and adding a somewhat unreal element in an otherwise realist depiction of the landscape.
