Cheap piece of junk.
Beware this CD does not come with the 16 page booklet. It also does not even list which bands performs which song. Real cheap Amazon real cheap. If I didn't want a physical copy of these songs I would have sent this cheap piece of junk back.

I owe alot of my infatuation with the underbelly of 60s Michigan to Julian Cope and his Detroit Sampler. There's more out there. Search and Destroy!

'Where You Gonna Go? Motor City Garage Bands, 1965-1969' (Cicadelic) Various Artists
Another case of some of -the better- '60's garage rock that you've never heard. I tend to run across a number of friends, acquaintances, contacts, etc. that simply avoid any and all various artists CD titles as such. I for one, can't get enough of these sort of releases. Seems like all the time I'm coming across like discs. But this one 'Where You Gonna Go?' is well worth a five-star rating - to say the least. I was totally digging what I'm hearing here - as with the single cut by The Boys, as well as the eight rocking tracks by the off-the radar band Unrelated Segments, The Lykes Of Us with their contribution of four songs, the District Six three cuts - including a well-played Love cover "7 And 7 Is", six tunes from the Tidal Waves and two by The Couriers. A must-have.

My Hometown Heroes!
I am not just discovering the Unrelated Segments. Or the Tidal Waves. These guys are part of the soundtrack of my childhood. Their records were top ten on WKNR and EVERYBODY I knew had that HBR single of Farmer John. The Segments were from my hometown of Taylor Michigan. That makes me proud. They made great singles and to my mind were neck and neck with Bob Seger and the Last Heard. Both the Segments and the Tidal Waves recorded for SVR who had a studio(I think) on the east side. Their records were then leased, at first to HBR(Hanna Barbera Records) with the Segments moving on to Liberty. If you like this check out the A Square(of Course) album and Friday At The Hideout for a more comprehensive look at the Local Detroit/ SE MI scene in the 60s.
