Velcro grips need more work.
While I ordered the solid shaft grips, I received the velcro ones. Since I wanted them for a paddling trip that weekend, I didn't try to return. I put them on my paddle and hoped for the best. It really was a disaster. They slipped all over the place, from the end of the shaft to the middle of it, no matter how much I tried to tighten them. I have a standard sized carbon paddle so there's really no excuse for this. There needs to be a more grippy material on the inside, and/or the velcro needs to be longer to wrap more tightly around the shaft (I had some overhang trying to get it as tight as possible). Trying to keep my hands on the grips, when the grips moved all over the shaft, made for some very awkward paddling, rather than the pleasant experience I have had with the solid grips that stay where you put them.

Do not recommend...slips all over the place...
These looked to be a cost-efficient way to avoid wearing gloves while I kayak. I live in Arizona, so wearing gloves can get hot. Pros- good amount of padding on grips, quality materials. Cons- they don't stay put, they slide all over the shaft of the paddle and have to constantly be re-positioned. I could not install these tight enough that they did not "wander" all over the place. I repeatedly found my hands in the wrong spots, causing fatigue and inefficient paddling. I think the only way to make these work is to glue or adhere them to the shaft. Installed them as tight as I could, immediately allowed slippage. I would recommend a nice pair of kayaking gloves over this....or if you decide on this, I would definitely recommend some form of adhesive...

THESE DO NOT WORK
These are seriously not worth the money. They slip ALL over the place, no matter what you do! They are comfortable but if you don't have your hands on your paddles right you're not going very far and these slip way too much. No thanks!

NO MORE BLISTERS
These worked great. I paddled about 5 miles in 2 days and these made that distance possible. The other person I was paddling with had on gloves. The only difference I can highlight is that these grips would shift a little every now and then and rub my fingers but not enough to form blisters. I love them. Great price.

Really like these......
I put these on every paddle I have. I've even given them away as gifts. They make the paddle more comfortable to grip, and easier to grip when wet (a constant when kayaking). I've never gotten a paddling blister when using these. I've tried both the "solid" and the "wrap-around" velcro versions. If you have a two-part paddle, I highly recommend the "solids" over the "velcro" models, only because they slip less and the velcro stitching eventually wears out from paddling stress.TIPS:The packaging says to wet the inside and slide over the paddle shaft, to apply. I've found it easier to put them on by turning them inside-out, slide over the shaft, flip the top edge inward, and roll back over itself. After measuring for my proper grip placement, I usually put a few wraps of 1-Inch Gorilla Tape on both side of each grip to prevent any possible slippage (tape the shaft, NOT the grips). 1-Inch Gorilla Tape
