Worth the price
I found out about my hardcore MTHFR mutations about 6 years ago. At first I was taking lesser brand's formulation (also 15mg) which worked for a while, but then stopped (dissolvable lozenges). I stopped taking this about 18 months ago, because I felt no different with it or not. About a month ago I bought this one and the difference is very noticeable. Rest is more restorative, detox systems work way better. Mood is not hampered by grogginess, and I can enjoy/handle more caffeine than before. Overall, a great formulation, subjectively I feel, undiluted. I plan to stick with this one as it works best out of 4 different brands I tried.

My brain needs this
I tested positive for an MTHFR mutation when figuring out my best treatment for depression. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford Deplin, even with insurance. Thankfully, this WORKS. I didn't want to take any unneccesary medication and so tried this alone then Bupropion/Wellbutrin alone. Either by itself was better than nothing, but together they've worked wonders (along with CBT and DBT). Everyone's depression is different. For me, it was like trying to get my engine to turn over but it just wouldn't engage. The Bupropion helps "the car start" and the folate keeps the "transmission" working.

My Doc has me taking these
I had to start taking this in small doses. My doctor had me on 5mg to start. I would get nauseous because my body wasn't used toit. There is a good article at the website anabundantlife that explains some of the reasons it might make you sick or affect your mental health. I use Thorne because they are a trusted brand and it's the one my doctor prescribed. If you feel sick or "not right" try taking half the capsule and slowly work your way up or talk to your doctor. A little piece of bread shoved into the end of the opening will keep the powder from falling out. I stopped taking it for a while so I am starting out with half capsule every other day for the rest of the week. I went all in with a full capsule and now I feel really sick.

Waste of $$$
I took a risk and purchased these hoping that they would compare to Deplin (for MTHFR, unable to process folic acid). Unfortunately, they did nothing for me. Deplin and Pure Encapsulations Folate (Metafolin version) give a sense of well-being, wakefulness and ease. Unfortunately, getting the prescription for Deplin is a hassle and expensive. And the the Metafolin version of the Pure Encapsulations Folate only comes in 1000 mcg so I have to take like 10 pills at a time to be effective. Which makes me wonder how Thorne Research is able to get 15mgs into one teeny tiny capsule. Would have been ideal if it did work, although still really expensive. I am going to go back to Pure Encapsulations, and also maybe try Solgar again. Solgar has the Metafolin version. Would sill have to take like 10 pills at once, but I think Solgar costs a little less. In any case, this product did not work for me.

Love the tiny capsules size.
My son has the genes, and we're just going on assumption with my daughter and going ahead and using the product on her as well. I can't say for sure that l-Methylfolate is really doing something with them as their issues are severe, but we're erring on the safe side and supplementing as it can't hurt. Many other brands have really huge capsules. Considering this is not their only medication, I prefer something smaller when I can find it. Their doctor doesn't mind an OTC option since the brand prescription is so expensive. Paying a little more for this over the least expensive option is worth it for the smaller capsule size.
