Takes some practice to use. I find that you must place a finger in the center in order to keep the slicer from squeezing closed as you move it through the melon. If you don't the "slice" will start at full width, then taper down to paper thin before you finish each slice. Though the real downside is that the "inside" of the slicer where you must place your finger has very rough, (Even sharp) edges there so you must be very cautious, or better still, wear gloves. Of course one can always do as I did and "file" the rough edges down.

I'm still working on my technique, but even with my novice style, it is better than anything I have tried in the past!

It works well. Could be a bit heaver gauge and a bit larger for more strength/ leverage.

I saw a demo/review of this tool on The Chew and ended up buying one for each of my family members. First disappointment was that it was being shipped directly from China! If I had noticed that I would not have purchased it. My delivery date was 6-8 weeks out. It actuality, it arrived in a couple of weeks. Second disappointment was how thin the metal was. It felt very flimsy and uncomfortable to hold because the edges dig into the palm of your hand. Third disappointment was the results. Yes, it easily went down into the watermelon to slice straight down, but it was awkward to slice through the half, maintain a good grip, and then pick up the "piece" you just cut. The majority of watermelon juice was left in the watermelon, when I tried to cut another slice, I again just got a broken, jagged piece. Placing the pieces on a plate and cutting them into bite size pieces was very messy, leaving more juice on the plate. The last problem was now I have a partially cut watermelon to deal with. I had to get out a large knife, cut off the "used" part. I had to cut out all of the watermelon that was still in the rind. What a mess. Such a disappointment all-in-all. I told all of my family to toss the "slicer" and go back to our way of cutting and slicing watermelon into perfect squares. Bummed - I love kitchen gadgets and this one totally bombed.

Love this lil gadget !! Make cubes out of melons or just long strips . You get every part of the fruit !!! Everyone has to try it when they see u .. Ok with me !

I purchased this at the peak of watermelon season in hopes of finally having the perfect gadget for slicing watermelon. I so wanted this to work. I purchased a seedless watermelon in anticipation, the day before the product was to arrive. When it was delivered, I couldn't wait to wash it and use it. I read the instructions, followed them step by step (it's not rocket science), and what a mess. It seems to work okay, but not well in the first part of the slice, but for me, the second movement of trying to finish the slice and bring the slicer out of the watermelon, just doesn't work. I tried not going in as deeply. Nope. I tried quartering the other half and that just made more of a mess. So, in all fairness and because I really wanted this to work, I purchased another watermelon the next week an had my husband read the instructions and he tried to use the product to slice into half a watermelon. Same problem. It goes into the melon okay, but when you're trying to bring it back up and out, no luck. I tried it on a cantaloupe and it wouldn't even go into that. So, for the first time, I've had to give a product 1 star. Don't waste your time or money on this.

This tool is the best; slices watermelon, cantaloupe easily and neatly. I liked it so much I bought 5 more and gave to family and friends.
