With nearly 7 years having passed since releasing their last new material, MAD CADDIES fans are hungry for Dirty Rice and the band will be hitting the road hard throughout 2014 to serve it up live. With digital download card.

Can't even listen to this a second time.
This is not nearly as good as their older material. The Mad Caddies shined up until they started thinking they were from New Orleans. "Dirty Rice" (and their previous effort "Keep It Going") are forgettable. On this new record, the horns take a backseat to piano tracks and Jimmy Buffet singalongs that aren't catchy enough to actually work. The one song that does sound like classic Caddies just isn't up to par with past material. I read somewhere that they had 30-something new songs to choose from when putting "Dirty Rice" together. They picked the wrong songs. Hopefully the remaining new material will get released and won't sound like watered down NOLA-wannabe garbage. They need to go back to their roots, or even back to "Just One More", which was a perfect album.

Couldn't the Mad Caddies give us just one more album as good as "Just one More"?
Couldn't the Mad Caddies give us just one more album as good as "Just one More"? They certainly got close with Dirty Rice. Great for ska fans and regular people alike - my wife even enjoys listening with me and she hates my 'weird' music. It does lack that 'hit single' type song to make me want to grab this album in particular and put it into the CD player - but once your'e listening you won't want to turn it off. Its a bit of a contradiction because this album is as energetic as it is releaxed - but its a fabulous combination!

I thought it was great cd. Musically they have moved forward
I am a Texas fan. Do not get to see them often. I know they have had a few band members changes. I thought it was great cd. Musically they have moved forward. They rock the music.

first album of theirs I've heard.
Annnnnd I like it! I thought it was gonna be a bit more punk, or a bit more reggae, but overall. A solid, summer album.

Nothing super catchy, nothing bad. I like their 90's material better.

So very good!
Yes, after seven years (during which we have had a couple of new tracks on 'Consentual' and the sublime Elwood cd) they have lost none of their class. As with most of Caddies music the cd takes a few listens to really get under the skin, but when it gets there, boy does it grab hold. The reggae elements are coming through really strongly on a few tracks, but that is no bad thing. What makes the Caddies different/better is the depth of the arrangements and the excellent use of brass. Now, we await their return to these shores!

Long time coming! Really like it but have to admit it took a couple of listens to get into. Not a scratch on keep it going or duck and cover but, like most long standing bands their music matures with them and there are some great songs here. Just don't expect much of the crazy circus ska of old!

Sensationell Gut!
Sensationell gute Laune Musik!
