Sasol Southern African Birdfinder: Where to find 1400 bird species in southern Africa

Absolutely masterful bird book for the birder doing their own tour of the region. If bird can't be found, call the numbers included in sections and further help well provided. Brilliant birdfinding and site guide. Going to buy another copy as we have worn this on out.. more tape than paper on the map.. Kidding aside, to go the region as a birder/nature interest traveler you must have this book.. Sites and a bit of local interest discussed as well..

Excellent! Lot of information in different ways, but I have not checked in the field yet. I love the explanations of the 150 most wanted species.

Excellent guide qui couvre le sud de l'Afrique - et non seulement l'Afrique du Sud, mais aussi Angola, Namibie, Zambie, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, et même Madagascar. Chacun des 335 spots décrits comporte une carte, une liste des oiseaux qu'on peut y voir (et quand) ainsi qu'une multitude d'informations pratiques.Une grande carte (format poster) positionne ces sites de façon très lisible et propose des itinéraires.Un modèle du genre... mais en anglais.

Bought this book not really knowing what to expect but more to have as much birding info on the trip to Namibia as possible.A bit dubious of its meit to start this book turned out to be a great addition to our trip. As we were driving around we often consulted this book to see what birds were in which areas local to us We often followed the prescribed routes that led us into the countryside and showed us parts of Namibia that we wouldn't have otherwise seen, not to mention seeing many of the birds listed as endemic to the area.This combined with the SASOL Birds of Southern Africa provided all the info you'll need to have a great birding holiday.
