Exactly What I Wanted...LOVE it!
This knife bar is fantastic, so far. It was short enough to fit on the side of a cabinet next to my sink and close to my food prep area so knives are conveniently close when I'm cooking and prepping and they are washed, dried, and safely stored, without taking a step away from the sink. (I know, I know, but I love ergonomics, haha!!) The magnet is strong...the knife sticks right where it is placed without sliding or tilting. The silicone cover is a great idea for protecting the honed edge of the knife. Installation was a breeze. I did swap out the original screws for much shorter since I was installing on the side of a cabinet and didn't want screws protruding into the cupboard and it's very stable. As an added bonus, I really love the look of this knife bar; it's very clean and sleek, almost sculptural when the knives are on it, and I'm sure it would work in any style home.

Deserves Five Stars
Easy mounting, good build quality, VERY strong magnets. The silicone surface is perfect. Do not worry about the magnet strength, I have a couple heavy 11oz. knives up there with no problem or sliding. Good product all around.

Still.....Works great!
Update 12/20/16I still love my knife holder! The magnet is as strong as ever and it still looks like new. I was a little worried about the heavy knives like the chef knife but there has not been a single mishap. The only problem now is, it's full and I'm getting a 12 inch carving knife for Christmas. I've got a spot all picked out for the second hanger....all I need is two more paint sticks!May 2016 Original Review:I've been wanting to get my knives out of the cutlery draw for awhile now. I was looking at knife blocks but they would take up too much of my limited counter space. Then I saw the magnetic knife holders and thought they might be the answer. I measured the depth of my cabinets and found I only had 11 inches to work with, not enough. Some reviewers said they cut them down, drilled new holes, etc. Way more then I wanted to get into! I kept looking and came across this one, it looked perfect....length fits, looks nice and great reviews. I decided to try it.DH was recruited to do the installation. A problem we hadn't anticipated was how thin the side wall of the cabinet is. His solution....two wooden paint stirrers glued together and then glued inside the cabinet gives it a strong surface to mount it.It's been up for several weeks now and it's perfect. I have extra space in my cutlery drawer and the knives are safely out of the way and easy to reach.

Strong Magnet, Good Looking, and Easy Installation with a few tools
Good magnet for your kitchen knives. Anyone who complains about it not being able to hold onto their knives either (1) received a different product than the one I received, or (2) are using it incorrectly, i.e. mounting it vertically on the wall and then trying to place their knives horizontally on the bar, then complaining that their knives don't stay in place. If you want to hang your knives horizontally without them rotating/moving, buy something MADE for that! Or buy 2 of these and mount them vertically, 4 or so inches apart! The one I received EASILY holds onto my 8 inch chef's knife. It seems like it would not have a problem with a heavier blade, such as a cleaver, but I don't own anything bigger than my chef's knife, so I can't be sure. One "con" for many people might be that it comes with mounting screws and drywall anchors, but no mounting instructions. For anyone with a bit of DIY experience, this should not be an issue at all. But for those of you that don't, here you go:1. Place the metal plate where you want to install the strip, and mark the center of the holes with a pencil. Be sure you mount it high enough so that your largest knife's handle has room to hang below the strip2. Use a level to be sure your hole marks are horizontal/completely level, before you drill.3. Drill your holes for your drywall anchors; NOT TOO BIG: if you're unsure, start with a smaller hole and work your way into bigger drill bits until it's big enough.4. Gently tap (or screw, depending on the type of anchor) your anchors in until they are flush with the wall.5. Screw the plate onto the wall.6. Attach the main body of the knife strip to the plate (the same magnets that hold your knives in the front also hold the main body of the knife strip to the metal plate on the wall).7. You're DONE!!Don't buy the 10" strip if you want to mount more than 5 knives. If you come back here and give a bad review because the strip was not big enough for all of your knives, then you're placing blame on something/someone else, when the fault is solely your own.

Great magnetic power with a sleek look. Recommended.
This 10" knife holder has great magnetic power and looks sleek. I installed it through the side of my 1/2" wood cabinet above my sink with #8, flat-head machine screws, 3/4" in length. I used a washer and bolt on the back end. The #8 screw worked great although the package came with a #6 (smaller head/gauge screw); the one that came is a wood/drywall screw with drywall anchors. I used a machine screw with nuts and bolts for extra security over the years since we will be grabbing knives off of it for a long time to come. You screw the back metal plate to the wall and then simply put on the front part (like a cover on a necklace box) with the magnets. As the front part fits flat to the back plate, you do need to use flat-head screws to get the best magnetic connection (the screws are countersunk and a screw any larger than a #8 will not fit in the countersink hole).I tried another RSVP product first...the kinds that looks more traditional with the black magnets and the stainless steel showing in horizontal lines in front. I found it didn't have the holding power I wanted because the knives wouldn't touch all four steel stripes at the same time.We have 4 knives on it including a razor-sharp, 11.5" (7" blade) Global knife. I am not worried about slippage at all. Would recommend, buy again or give as a gift without hesitation.

First rate. Does the job well.
I am reasonably reasonable, but almost never give 5 stars. This time I am. Holds knives up to 8 inches (my longest) and 4 other knives. Strong magnet, no slipping.Aesthetically pleasing and easy to install. Can't think what more I can ask of a knife magnet.

Can't fault it.
This product is excellent. I have not used it with the wall plate screwed to a wall, although I'm sure that would work too. Instead I simply put it on the side of the boiler in the kitchen above the worktop. It holds there just fine using its own magnets, and holds my knives on it.The knives that have been there for a while do, of course, become magentised themselves. That's not a problem, and is not a benefit, just a curiosity. I guess, if you wanted to keep screwdrivers on it then it might be an advantage to have them magnetised so as to hold screws on them.
