Monday the Bullfrog: A Huggable Puppet Concept Book About the Days of the Week

One of the best baby/toddler books out there
I actually received this as a gift when my daughter was very young and we had a couple good years of fun with it before I gave it away. I am now purchasing it for my expecting friend in hopes she can have the same kind of fun with this book that I did with my baby.It came in good time, and in good shape. Packaging is cute and perfectly giftablr. A+ for presentation.I know this author has one other book like it - an octopus book, but god... wish there were more books like this one. Even the best baby books have nothing on this one in the ‘engaging and interactive’ department... absolutely one of the best baby book/toy I’ve come across

Looks best left on the shelf
Looked great in the package but honestly it's nothing really to write home about. It's fun and all, I mean, who wouldn't like a bullfrog with random things in its mouth? But while my wife's hand fits snuggly inside (she's rather petite) my hand does not fit at all. The order of the days and what bullfrog (named "Monday", which can make things either confusing or more fun) eats on those respective days are not on the same page, like on the page where it eats a bug for Wednesday it is printed on the bottom of the page effectively, "...and what he ate for Thursday was..." with "Thursday" written in large, bold print. While this can create suspense for the next page, for my little reader it is somewhat confusing to have the next day written on the same page as the previous day's meal. After reading it, when questioned about what the frog ate on any given day, he keeps mixing it up with the following day's meal. Minor quirk I guess. Overall it seems to be a valiant attempt to bridge both a puppet and a book and sadly seems to fail to achieve the best of either. But it's still a cute frog and a nice book-end book/toy to have displayed on the shelf. We get comments all the time from friends, visitors, and guests.

Cute
Kept my baby entertained during a flight. Only complaint is that the pages don’t open easily, even with your hand in the frogs mouth

They both loved to feel the colorful sensory items on each page ...
I first received this book as a gift when my son was born over 6 years ago. It was one of his favorites and then became one of my daughter's favorites. They both loved to feel the colorful sensory items on each page and overall loved the stuffed animal/puppet aspect of the book. I agree that it is difficult to use this as a hand puppet while reading it, but that never was a big issue for us. We would read it and the kids would explore the pages and then I would use it as puppet after to mock "chomp" on them. It is a go-to gift in our family for baby gifts, and while my kids have outgrown it, they both still get excited when they see it.

Interactive and Fun
I read previous reviewers reviews and I almost did not make this purchase, but I am glad I did. The problems with the eyes that one reviewer mentioned, has been fixed in newer models, and as far as being to scary for the child, I guess it depends on the child. I have a 2 yo son, a 3 yo nephew, and a 4 yo niece, and they all love this book. The bright colors, and the funny voices I use to narrate it entertain them, and by the time they get to the "scary" last page they are giggling at his tickling attack.

Cuddle up with a good book
Kids are now able to literally cuddle with a book. This is a sweet story with lots of textures to experience and a great 'boo!' at the end. My daughter is almost two and enjoys reading it and feeling all of the different critters in the frog's mouth. It is also a hand puppet and I agree that it is hard to read the book while your hand is operating the frog's mouth, but it is not necessary to use the puppet-part to enjoy the book. So, it's not really a hand puppet AND a book but a hand puppet OR a book. Either way it is very cuddle-able!

Great gift for toddlers!
I bought this book for my 1 yr old niece and she loves it. She loves her stuffed animals and her books, and this is a perfect blend of the two. Each of the pages has a different color and image for her to look and and when she gets to the end and sees the mirror she always smiles. I think this is a newer version of the book because the eyes are plush and very well attached to the frog. I read on other reviews about concern for a choking hazard, but I can't see how these would ever fall out! Definitely glad I bought it :)

sooo cute
i thought my 2 year old and 9 month old would love this book. what they loved was the clear plastic box it comes in. my two year old loves it when i pretend the bullfrog is eating my fingers :) but doesn't care to sit through the story. plus the design of the frog's mouth makes it difficult to keep the pages open at a good reading angle.

Younger Audience
I bought this for my 18 month old daughter who has (and LOVES) several other Van Fleet books (Tails, Dog, Cat, etc.) and I will be giving this away as a baby gift. The text is simplistic in comparison and is not as interactive (aside from puppet concept) as the author's other books. I think this is better suited for 6-9 month age range.

Just ok.
Very good quality but the actual story could be better. I enjoy October the Octopus much better. Cute but story is definitely lacking.
