Be Patient
Okay. I see why some folks think this doesn’t work. It’s not one and done. At least for me. 6 holes. Baited all and filled a couple of days later. Vole showed back up in 2 of the holes. Baited the 2 holes again and filled a day later. A couple of days later the holes were back. Baited and filled holes once again. No more voles. I assume it takes a bit for the bait to work. In the meantime they come back for more. So I fed them more. It works. Be patient and persistent.

Have to make it more enticing
When used "as is" the voles wouldn't touch it. They just tunneled around it. When I ground it up and mixed it with peanut butter they ate every last crumb. No more voles!

It’s ok.
So I have been using this for a while after trying a cast or oil cayenne pepper garlic deterrent that didn’t really work. I liked that this was non-toxic, although I’m not exactly sure why it even works- well I wouldn’t recommend it we could do this. But that’s exactly why I was trying it because I ended up just putting it in my garden beds in the holes, and I didn’t want rent poison or something in there. What I do is I put a whole bunch in all their active holes, and then I take the bottom of a brassica leaf, like cabbage or broccoli… And I kind of folded up to make a wad and I shove it in their hole. Then they are faced with either digging a new hole or eating through the stuff to get out. Let’s face it even rodents don’t like extra work sometimes. Well I can’t say this stuff works Fantastic- we’re desperate. We grow most of our own food and the vols have eaten at least 20 of our beats, tons of my brassica starts, and my potatoes this year. Also carrots…We do above ground bait traps that are true Poison, but those are not in my garden beds. When you’re in a tough spot, I guess this is better than nothing. You do have to reapply!!!Vols reach sexual maturity in 34 days, the pregnancy lasts 21 days, they live 3-9 months, And can have 5-10 litters in that time, with 3-6 babies each- who then have more babies. So what we do as we walk the whole garden, find all the holes, make sure you lift up the foliage and look under stuff. Also when you pull up beds, I know this is counterintuitive, but stomp and compact it! It is harder for the plants, but they’re designed to make do. The voles hate it compacted. You ruin their highways.

Knocks the numbers down!
Our vile population exploded this year. They were eating everything and anything in our gardens. We really did not want to poison them in fear of hurting other wild life. Had tried Juicy Fruit gum with no success at all. We then tried VoleX. Waited for dry weather for a few days. Placed one piece deep in each hole. Within a few days, we did notice a decline in missing plants. We then did a round two. By now we have definitely noticed a decline. I probably will do another round come fall to make sure we don’t have another coke explosion next year. The bag seems Small, but after two rounds, I still have enough for another go. We have a pretty large yard.

I think it actually ATTRACTS voles!
This didn't work. Not even a little. I've literally watched voles run across the VoleX. I wonder if they laugh at me while they do it.I've used two bags. I placed it in their runways and in their nest entrances. No change.
