My factory charger died. I purchassed this item due to its low price, but it does not hold the battery in place when plugged in a wall. If you use a rubber band, it will work but it is a pain.

I bought this so I'd have a spare car charger for my Nikon. The charger is one of the type that comes apart so that you can adapt the base to a different style of battery or replace the charger port. The charger has a regular (us) plug on the back that folds out and comes with a cord and car ac adapter that you plug into a cigarette lighter or electric outlet in a car. I have tried both and I found that the charger works just fine. I haven't had any issues with my battery not charging properly or with the device overheating or anything like that. The reason I am deducting a star is because there is something about this style of charger that causes the battery to not stay in. If you tilt the charger at all the battery just falls right out - the charger doesn't hold it at all! I have two other chargers and one of them is this exact style and it too does not hold the battery. I'm not sure why they don't. I also have one of the original Nikon chargers and the battery fits sort of snugly into it and I can invert the charger and the battery stay put. I imagine those would cost quite a bit more at retail, so the battery falling out is a really not a deal breaker.I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion. This is a review for Ourai Nikon En El battery charger:I generally keep several of these around for I do a lot of nature photography and there is nothing worse then being somewhere without extra charged up batteries or a emergency charger.This fits the bill pretty good as far as cost goes... and portability.. it has a fold down AC plug for keeping for use with regular current and also included is a cord for a car charger so you can plug it into your car for a charge or top it off as you travel.The device itself is small and easy to carry in your bag, or pocket... it takes up very little room and has a lot of positives going for it... but the reason I gave it a three star instead of higher was when I put the battery into the charger.. it was some what loose..not snug...and to use it where i normally charge my batteries..the way the wall plug is set up.. I have to turn this sideways... not up and down.. the battery is so loose that it would fall out or of it got bumped or nudged by something, the battery would pop out. That has never been the case before when I charge up my numerous Nikon batteries.I think ti works just fine as far as charging and will surely charge your battery, I am just not comfy with the loose fit of the battery.I hope this review was helpful to you..I was given the opportunity to purchase this at a reduced rate in exchange for trying the charger out and writing a review on my findings.
