Used as a high level addition to 11+ preparation for my tutees. Cannot recommend these comprehension packs highly enough. Challenging and full explanations given which can also provide different perspectives on standard answers. I spent hundreds of pounds on commercial 11+ books ( bought ALL the range available on the market) and none of the comprehension were AS ACCURATE as Robert Lomax papers ! My daughter was scoring 100% in every book but when she first came across R.Lomax papers she burst into tears as it was the REALITY of 11+ ,( unlike other books that was just a joke!) needless to say she passed her grammar schools exams ( in London - a city that has only 2 grammar schools left and competition is fierce)We attribute her success to his papers because although in maths she was fine, comprehension was her weak point - especially when she needed to INFER things from the text. With these papers it was just like having a tutor on our desk!I will ONLY recommend HIS papers, no need to spend money on any other English 11+ .

Used this publication to tutor a child for a private school entrance exam. I tutored him for about 1 year using a combination of resources, but mainly this one towards the latter part of our time together. This publication was great. It has an excellent selection of texts which are challenging and questions which really stretch children to succeed. What was also great was that there were model answers but also comments to explain how each question should be approached. I would highly recommend this publication for 11+ or school exam entrance tests.

I am currently preparing my daughter to sit an exam, and hopefully get a scholarship, at a really selective school. A friend recommended RSL to me...we struck gold!! I was led to believe (by my children’s school and their tutor) that Comprehension is unreachable, how wrong wet they. This book if full of classic literature texts, and possible questions (worth up to 8marks). Answers to the questions are laid out and explained VERY clearly; what is expected of the answer, and, what the words in the question are actually asking of your child. I can see a big progress (in only a month time) in my child’s comprehension. She has a clear understanding of what to write and how to write it. The author of the book is clearly really passionate about teaching children and making it fun, while gently moulding their minds!Thank you Robert Lomax!!

I cannot stress enough how brilliant these papers are. I bought these to help prepare my daughter for the 11+ (she got a place and earned herself high praise at the interview as the school were amazed at her level of comprehension). Each paper comes with a separate throughly explained answer sheet which makes teaching much simpler. I myself am not a teacher but the papers are so well written that teaching became such an easy task and became the only resource I used. I bought both volumes and I will defiantly purchase any future volumes. I have to stress that these volumes are extremely useful for kids in high school who are either struggling or wish to improve their comprehension skills. My son, who is already in a grammar school, decided to have a go and after having worked through half the volume found himself in the top spot in his English class!

There is so much 11+ material 'out there' that parents can get confused with what's good and what's not. Someone recommended the RSL material and I'm so impressed with the quality of it. Particularly the answer sheets - I can confidently state that there is no other equivalent exam paper material that can rival the detailed explanations; trust me I've researched this. May I also recommend that once you have gone through all the available hard copy material, sign up to the online subscription service that provides 11+ English and Maths papers every week - with the same level of detailed answers!Thank you for your exemplary work RSL!

Along with volume one, this booklet is well-paced for 11+ Comprehension practice. As a parent, I really like the thorough explanation that comes with the answers (and the introduction). The book is very good at crafting the skills into the right format. I wish I'd found them sooner!

This is another great book I bought for my daughter after she finished volume 1 in order to improve her English comprehension. If my daughter learned some comprehension skills from volume 1, then this volume is where she applied all her skills and polished her skills. This is much more productive and efficient than the expensive tutor we tried. I feel really lucky to have come across these two volumes of English comprehension books just a few months before my daughter's 11+ exams!
