I am thankful for this book for giving me all that I could ever need in my DIY room. Labor costs too much and I wanna be able to extract my artistic side by doing things tha I can cos it could really help a lot in savings. After woodworking I am bent on painting, that way, renovation will not be too hard on the pocket.This is an awesome reference book. What I like about it is the photos. It's really good that when you go through a DIY book, it has photos for reference because we're not experts here. If for improvement, I would have appreciated photos on the last part, "first project" part cos it's truly easier to make something you can envision, what I am imagining might not actually be the right picture.It's a great guide, easy to follow and included even the list of materials needed without the complexities. I found they are cheap too.

I have discovered the art of wood working! I purchased this "DIY Small Vanity" that comes with different small parts that you can assemble. It's my first ever product and I'm proud of it. It was easy to do and I wanted to see if I can push further into this hobby.I bought this book looking for easy DIYS for beginners but I learned so much more. Woodworking is not just simply assembling two pieces of wood together. It is art. It is a hobby that takes time to develop. This book gives you a big idea on woodworking. There are elements that you have to consider when you're embarking on the project like the specific wood, safety measures and the basic tools that you might encounter. I guess the only downside was that not all the tools were given pictures. This book's also handy if you're planning to make your own woodwork shop!

This is a great little book to get you started in the world of woodworking. This is a nice book for beginner woodworkers or people just curious about the craft working. I want to learn how to do woodworking after growing up seeing my father do side crafts with wood. However, I don't have the natural instinct that he did with wood. So I peaked around Amazon and this is the book that came up.This book is helpful at home. Woodworking would be much more fun doing when you have this book. This serves as my best guide in wood working because its instructions are easy to understand. I also learned a lot from the woodwork tips and tricks section where they teach tricks like removing dust the proper way. The projects listed are also very interesting examples that can help in brainstorming ideas for what to create. However, it is kind of short and makes you want for more.Darren does a good job explaining in simple ways how to master woodworking. I recommend this read. It is easy and to the point.

From this guide you will be taught how to do woodworking step by step. After reading the book, I believe you will be more excited to create as many pieces as possible. Woodworking can be a good hobby and a potential business idea.

So, I badly need a handyman in our home since my husbands is always out of town that is why I try to be the jack of all trades in our house repairing just about anything that needs improvement. Basically this book is very beneficial for me in doing minor improvements of crooked chairs or even art project of my kid from school, I was able to learn its basics and of course the materials I needed to start some minor woodworks in our home. What I even like about this book are the pictures included per chapter that gave me the idea on what really goes around on woodworking. There are also lot of useful guidelines and tips found on this read which is very handy for people who would like to engage themselves into woodworking or just for individuals like me who needs basic knowledge on woodworks for minor repairs in our home. Very informative book.

Woodworking is one of those romanticized hobbies you see and you want to try, but rarely do because you don't know where to start. I think this book can help.The book is not so much about projects, it is more of a general guide for beginners. It describes everything a beginner must have, from tools and proper light to types of wood and screws. The author included one project, a box, but it does not have pictures and it is not very detailed.Other than that, the guide is very good and it is a great starting point.

This is the best book on getting started in woodworking I have read. It covers the necessary tools needed. If you are creative and have the drive to learn, then you find the right book. It is good to learn woodworking because this is a skill that will direct you to a new phase in your career, you can be a furniture and cabinet maker, toy maker, ship builder and a lot more DIY stuff which can be a money making scheme. Educational and helpful guide indeed.

This book will help you learn woodworking, from picking up the right tools to creating your first piece. Even with no woodworking background, this book helped me understand the skill and is also for those looking to improve technique and skill set or troubleshoot their woodwork creations. It even gives you tips on creating your own woodshop. Author has done a good, thorough job in getting all the points across. Recommended.

This book is most certainly a basic book on woodworking ... I really don't feel there would be many that would benefit or learn anything from this book as it treats the reader with a complete know nothing attitude ....Talks about American ways and imperial measurements.

My Kindle edition has no diagrams to illustrate what's being described in the text. I don't know whether this is a technical problem with the Kindle edition, or actually they just don't exist, but the book is really difficult to follow without them. Describing a mortise and tenon joint without a diagram showing what one is? A picture is worth 1000 words, as the saying goes! Shame...
