This flashlight is a great idea. It is sturdy. I've often had to walk close to traffic while in the dark. I bought a couple of flashlights marketed by an American company and made in China. This flashlight has a good implementation of it's flash or stobe mode (all lights on the strobe part of the flashlight blink simultaneously in red - very visible!) My reason for giving this a 4 is that the flashlight (white light end of the flashlight) end is not very powerful, and is nowhere near as powerful as the many strong led flashlights that are available. The magnetic base hold strongly (loaded with 2 AA bateries, it holds horizontally on my refrigerator).

I returned it. Cheap material and design. Could not attach the batteries and then close the compartment.
