These sound great on mahogany top guitars and are my favorite strings for them, and mahogany guitars are my jam.The martin retro monel strings are very similar, but maybe have a bit more depth of sound in the low end, however, the Martins seem to die after a month or 6 weeks. I mean the 5th and 6th strings start to sound muddy and muted and lose their resonance. These are very close to that sound, but last a long time. They don't sound worse, they're almost identical to the martin monel but seemingly keep their sound/tone/everything for a long time. They also don't corrode even though they're uncoated, and are somewhere between coated and uncoated phosphor bronze strings in terms of stickiness/smoothness.I also really like them on some spruce top guitars, in particular a taylor 314ce. but one of my very old spruce dreadnoughts sounds wrong with them, an old yamaha. I also have them on a cedar top seagull and I disliked them at first, buy I think are sounding better after a week or so. Not sure about that one.I say they're made for and really enhance mahogany guitars. They sound so great on both of my mahogany guitars, a taylor gs mini and an all solid alvarez, and I will buy them for as long as daddario makes them for those guitars.People will ask you why you have electric strings on an acoustic guitar, because they're silver (nickel) in color instead of bronze.

I usually use D'addario EJ -17s but these sound even better on my Boucher Bluegrass goose.

These are some incredible strings. It made me realize that strings are as important as the guitar itself and maybe more. There is clearly some stuff on it that made em more comfortable than classic low price daddarios and some other strings in that price range that i have tried. But the comfort is not all, they sound incredible. I've never heard any other XL or L gage strings i've tried with that kind voicy and warm tone. If you play half-step down, they sounds godly nothing less dosent matter if you have a 350$ guitar it will sounds like you've never heard it after installing these. They ALSO (how the F*** they do that those guys) always stays in tune. In the end it helped me to play longer and made my guitar playing easier so i made a lot of progress with those strings on in a matter of days. I went from playing half of a song before taking a break to play a complete song while singing at the same time and do it again 10 times in a row. Never overlook the power of premium quality strings and put those extra bucks in here.
