Amazing Cookbook
I purchased this cookbook for my 10-year-old daughter who loves to cook. She was so excited to prepare her own meals. We have made the Southern Spoon Bread and the Cottage Chicken Tenders, and both came out absolutely delicious. The book is very well made, and the front cover images is very beautiful. This would make a wonderful birthday/Christmas, and I highly recommend this purchase.

A cookbook that will grow with her
As all of the other reviews have said, this is an exceptionally nice cookbook for kids. I just received it, having bought it as a birthday gift for a 9 year old who is always curious about what is going on in the kitchen. I was a little worried it could be too "young" for her, but a quick flip through the recipes shows that it is not. They are real recipes, not just simple, cutesy snacks. Some recipes are pretty easy, others involve a little skill. For instance, there is a simple sandwich with some zesty mayo, but also a yeast bread made from scratch. The recipes are also pretty interesting and diverse, ranging from a simple tossed salad with homemade dressing to mu shu pork and some sort of curry.Although even adults would like many of these recipes and should not mind too much having to be the guinea pigs for what the kids create (everything looks pretty yummy!), the book is definitely designed for children. It has several pages of tips, tricks, and safety instructions up front, things like making sure to scrub root vegetables that grow in the ground, making sure to clean up after yourself 👍, and a warning to never stick your fingers in a mixer that is still plugged in. It frequently reminds kids to ask an adult to help, too, which you might want to gloss over if you are 35 - even if you still really like the recipe. 😀 I was slightly disappointed that there was not more explanation for kids within the recipes, like it says to knead your bread dough but does not explain precisely what that means. Yet, there is a glossary section in the back where you can look up terms like "knead," or even ingredients you are not familiar with, like "hoison sauce." That's a nice touch and a happy medium to not make the primary text too childish. The recipes also all have a great layout with a photo of the dish on one side, a column listing the ingredients, and then small, clearly marked step-by-step directions.I also want to mention how overall beautiful the book is - from the glittery pink title to the characters featured on every page. It is colorful and interesting, and generally fun to flip through. I think the 9 year old is really going to like it, and far from being too "young" for her, it will grow with her. Even as an adult, she might turn to this to make the perfect pancake from scratch or a favorite easy dessert.

GREAT COOKBOOK, HORROR CONDITION
The media could not be loaded. For the record, this is a GREAT COOKBOOK. The recipes are extremely cute and simple for a child or for an adult who likes simple recipes. My complaint is the condition this book arrived in. Pages are falling out and torn. There's also what looks to be food stains in the very beginning. This is disgusting. To make matters worse, there's a DISCARD sticker on the back! So they purposely sent me a book in bad condition. I have bought books in used/GOOD CONDITION before, and never have I received one that looked like this. The recipes are in deed good though.

Get cooking! Good gift for kids of all ages
My daughter loved getting this since she's loves to cook with mommy. We've already tried a couple of the recipes and they're delicious and different. There are many kinds of food recipes as well as snacks, treats, and beverages and each corresponding character determines the origin of the recipe. For instance, MuShu from Mulan has Mushus Moo Shu or the Fa Family Lo Mein. Merida and her Bear Mom have a recipe for Unbearably Delicious Fish Cakes while Aladdin has Magic Lamp Curry.Even for picky eaters, this is a great book because most kids will eat something especially if they helped to create it. This enables them to learn how to cook and use proper safety while doing so and simultaneously widens their food pallets. Each recipe can obviously be modified on ones own if there is a food restriction or if someone just plain old doesn't like the taste of an herb. The beginning gives a mildly lengthy introduction to cooking basics and safety. It's written in easily understandable language for children. It's also good for any age. For instance, my sister (my daughter's aunt) can't cook for the life of her and can mix up a plate with a bowl (yes, I am exaggerating) but she has borrowed this book and my other one (read below) to become somewhat successful in an apron and heels lolI also have the Disney Jr. Cookbook that we originally received as a Birthday gift for her 2nd birthday. She loved helping make simple recipes for lunch and breakfast etc. And from that book, I also was able to expand on ideas to make more meals fun and interactive.I highly recommend these cook books for kids, if only to get them to appreciate the magic that happens in a kitchen. Its a good gift for kids of all ages and also encourages some quality time - depending on the age of said recipient, recipes must be made and cooked with an adult present. Grandparent and grandchild, parent or aunt...We can all use more time together! And what better way than to be able to eat what you create together!
