Well! Here I am, and I am still tutoring a 14 year-old young man. He is a fan of Theodore Boone! We have been studying 3John while waiting for the Kindle version and the paperback to arrive. He almost jumped for joy when I told him I had just finished chapter 10 of The Fugitive, and as soon as the paper back arrives we can start next week to discuss the story line. That turns out to be today! I've said it once and I will say it again: Mr. G is a stellar author. He encourages my student to read. It is fun to tutor bright, and eager students, and this young student is building a great vocabulary. Thank you Mr. G! I do not know of another krimi writer for adults who can bring a full blown adult Krimi narrative to the understanding of young readers. Those of my youth are all dead! ';) Even I crack a smile when I stumble onto great dialogue within The Fugitive. Great job Mr. G! Unfortunately, I have only five more weekly lessons, and then my husband, red heeler - Meg - and I are flying off to live out our retirement years in Texas - my home. My student was not happy about that news, but he jumped at the idea that we could finish The Fugitive in record time. I promise, this book will inspire you to vacation in Washington, D.C. this summer. Grisham's ability to build a great picture/infusion of local color and history into a short space is amazing. I have never been to D.C., but it will be on my bucket list immediately after finishing this tome - uh make that my 'review!' Will I find more young students in Texas who are also eager to become great at reading, digesting that which is read, pick out the plot plants, and succeed at building a great vocabulary? Yes! Good LORD willing. If you have not yet purchased at least one of these books for your young reader - what in heck are you waiting for? Christmas... Try Easter instead. Children do not get younger and certainly do not remain easily impressed with age. It takes much more effort as they grow into full blown teenagers. Trust me I know from experience... :))
