The catch on this item is that it is controlled by a USB dongle on the master device. So the primary item you want to control the others with needs a USB port that is not continually powered when the device is turned off. This is sometimes a feature of the host appliance so that you can plug in your phone and charge it. That said, my TV has a USB port that is appropriate for this USB dongle. The issue I have is that it only works 90% of the time. The other 10% I power on the TV and the auxiliary ports do not power up. I have to then turn it off and on again, sometimes several times before it powers up the aux plugs. The USB dongle sits less than 3 feet away from the power strip. Another smart power strip for sale powers the aux ports by sensing the power use on the primary device - I wish I had gotten that one now.
