Maui Babe Browning Lotion 8 Ounces

By far the best tanning lotion I have ever used. I use it to tan in a tanning bed & then use the oil version to tan outside and after a month of tanning indoors and outdoors I am a natural golden bronze color. It looks amazing. It's definitely tinted and you need to wash your hands after. The smell is different but in a good way. I don't mind it at all, reminds me of a strong coffee or butter scotch smell. I buy this same bottle every 6 weeks, because I go through it so fast. They even taped the top shut do it wouldn't explode or leak if left in the Arkansas heat too long. I recommend this product so much I should be a paid spokesperson for how many times I've convinced people to buy it. I'm fair complected in the winter but with this lotion and bit of tanning I'm almost brown lol. It's a beautiful natural brown, not orange or fake looking like alot of tanning lotions do. The only complaint I have is it is a bit oily so you have to wipe a bit of it off after you tan. Will stain clothes so make sure you put something on dark after you wear it. About to purchase again because my bottle is almost empty and I can't live without it. Lol I've only been tanning a month and I'll probably only need to tan a couple more weeks to completely max out on tanning. This product is AMAZING. You should purchase the outdoor tanning oil version as well. Its just as good, will purchase a couple bottles for my beach vacation this summer, i have to buy a few because my family uses it all when we go to the beach lol

The package isn't fancy, and it won't smell like a coconut factory. What it WILL do is darken your skin and allow the sun's rays to do what they are SUPPOSED TO DO--give you a REAL TAN! Yes, it's oily in texture & it does smell like Kona coffee. It's heavy, and the lotion itself is brown (it has coffee extract in it, remember?)--so when it goes on, you'll want to wash your palms. It's NOT a stain or "self tanner", just a sun lotion. With those elements combined--your sun exposure had already be well-base-tanned----or you will fry, because there isn't a sunscreen in there. Got a base tan? Good. Ready for a day of true tanning? Good. Get ready for Maui Babe, because you're going to come in after this one with a TAN! I love it and after reading other reviews, like others, this is my main tanning preference for REAL sun exposure. Probably wouldn't use it in a tanning bed because it might get some oil on their precious plexiglass... TIP: Shake the bottle really well before using, then tap the bottom on the countertop or your hand really firmly--that way, there's no "splash out" when you first open the bottle!!" Okay, so as someone from Samoa and having worked in Hawaii as a dancer for several years, I ordered this knowing that it would do what it is supposed to do. That being said, there are several points on which I recommend it: The shipping was fast and on time (I have prime), and in my opinion, the product was a bit different than what you would buy in Maui, but the quality is no less than that. Application-- I read several reviews commenting on the fact that it explodes when you open it, the smell, and the consistency. To open it, I didn't have explosion but I would suggest making sure the bottle isn't crumpled before closing it and to open it facing your palm. The smell is like brown sugar at first, but when I got to my neck/shoulder/chest area it started to kind of smell like soy sauce, but that doesn't bother me, it went away after a little while in the sun, and it doesn't have any affect on effectiveness. I read in several reviews about how it's oily and makes you feel "icky". Well, you're using far too much if that is the case. A quarter size amount is enough for my whole leg and I'm quite tall. A little goes a long way. It's not brown, and it's like a tinted oil that you don't slather on. You put it on like lotion so it soaks into your skin, providing nutrients and facilitates tanning. Your skin should feel soft and moisturized afterward. I spent an hour on a towel and I am already a shade darker. I would NOT recommend it for like a pool or beach considering when I got into the shower an hour after tanning, the water instantly washed it away. I don't know about a tanning bed, but I would assume that if you don't slather it on trying to actually look brown with it on, it should be the same as any other tan lotion. All in all, I recommend this product and the seller. It definielty works.

I gave this product a 4 because it does its job. I am a mut of all the fair skin, so when I burn I get whiter. This product does help you tan though! It’s very hard to tan my legs and they actually got some color after two uses. But if you are as fair as me you should really have a little spf for some protection. This product I got a tan but I still burned too, I need to add that they did say on the bottle that if you are fair to use a spf with the product. They say you can layer it with a sunscreen but I don’t like feeling like there is allot of product on my skin. I should have read the ingredients (totally my fault) but I was disappointed that it was made of mineral oil, not like Shea butter or coconut nut oil or something more natural? I know these have a shelf life and soak in easily, I do understand the mineral oil but not my first choice. There is nothing wrong with mineral oil but I found that this product sat on my skin. I tried to let it set on my skin for a while and even rubbed it in 3 times and still sat in my skin. My husband and I went into our small pool and it made the water cloudy. I used less the next time and still made the water cloudy. My really tan friends loved it. So I just gave it to them to use. It does it’s job it does make you tan, the smell is different not bad or amazing. I would recommend this to olive skin tones or people that tan easily or fair skinned people with some sort of spf. I do not recommend going in the pool after putting it on. It’s good for sitting outside to tan on a blanket or something. And for quick session tanning because it still helps with 10 min in the sun.

Originally found this product when I visited Maui years ago. It works just as I remember... AMAZING. I just returned from 4 days in Miami with a nice warm golden caramel tan, and even my LEGS (which NEVER tan easily) look tan! I only went to the beach twice, and have to say, I am THOROUGHLY impressed with my results from using this product. A few things to note: 1) WEAR SUNCREEN! Apply sunscreen prior to going outdoors, as your normally would, then apply this product once you are ready to lay out. You WILL BURN if you do not apply sunscreen first! 2) Yes, it does discolor your towel/ a bathing suit (like a yellow brown color), but it also browns your skin a warm caramel color. Use a dark/ black towel & swimsuit with this product so you are not unrealistically disappointed by the outcome of discoloration of your fabrics. 3) It smells like coffee beans w a hint of coconut, definitely distinct and unique, but not offensive or chemically. 4) Squeezing it out it looks like poop(!!)...do not be deterred..... it rubs on like BUTTER! So smooth & also feels very moisturizing. 5) Keep some baby wipes handy to remove the product from your hands after applying.

My husband and I decided to go to Hawaii on vacation. The only problem is that I usually use fake tan but decided to try to obtain one naturally. I tan okay and keep my tan for a few days before it begins to fade. Let me break the product down into pros and cons that I experienced: PRO: First off the product smells amazing. If you love the smell of coffee, you will LOVE this product. It is like rubbing oily coffee all over. It does have a brown color to it, but it does not stain your skin. It will not work for a fake rub on tan. The product makes your skin sooooo soft. It literally melts into your skin. It easily applies, but due to the oily nature of the product kinda makes a mess. CONS: It is kinda messy to apply since it is oil based. Second, I got the worst sunburn of my life with this product. I applied it all over. I went outside in my backyard in the shade and burnt like a lobster - so red it was almost brown. My shoulders were so burned they blistered. The sunburn was so painful that I have never used this product again. I know everyone has different experiences with the product and different outcomes. The product smells so wonderful I wish it worked for me. When we went to Hawaii, the product gets such great reviews from word of mouth from locals and tourists alike. The tans I saw from using this product was amazing. But sadly, I will not be using it again

I was skeptical when I first saw this on here. But decided to buy it anyway - and I'm soooo glad I did!! This stuff is amazing! I used it on my week-long beach trip and didn't even get to "lay out" much (because of chasing after kids...lol) and I came home with a great tan! The most amazing part is that I put it on OVER my SPF 30 sunscreen! I didn't get red at all (and I usually burn first, then it turns into a tan). Using this product I didn't burn at all and my tan is a nice golden brown color, not a reddish-brown that you see with some folks who lay out all day! In fact, my husband commented on my tan on our way home. It was something like this: "Wow. You got a really nice tan for no longer than you layed out." Then when I told him about the sunscreen he was amazed (and wondered why I didnt share with him...hehe). Anyway, some people on here commented on the "coffee" smell. It does smell like coffee at first (I couldn't decide if I liked the smell or not) but that quickly goes away. In fact, I only smelled it as I was applying it. Not long after it was on my body it didn't bother me and my husband/friends didn't notice either. Also, there are some reviews that say it stains. Well it does go on with a brown-tint (which gives you a nice oiled and browner look right after applying) and I noticed it does come off on towels, blankets, etc. However, it didn't stain them at all - after washing them, the color came right off. But, as another reviewer stated, I wouldn't wear it with a white swimsuit. You'd be walking around the beach with brown stains all over you. Lol. My bottom-line is: if you're thinking about purchasing it, go ahead!! You won't be disappointed in your tan!

I’ve tried a lot of tanning products over the years, but Maui Babe Browning Lotion is one I keep coming back to. I’ve been using this lotion for close to 10 years. It gives my skin a beautiful, natural-looking bronze glow without looking orange or streaky. The lotion goes on smoothly, and I noticed my tan developed faster and looked deeper after spending time in the sun. I will not use any other product.

Goes on smooth, smells great, and gives an even, natural-looking tan without feeling greasy. Love it!
