New Catholic Bible Family Edition [Imitation Leather] Catholic Book Publishing Corp

It’s a nice-looking Bible and thin enough to be in my travel bag or satchel.

We were looking for a family Bible and came across this one. This one is just like the one my parents got almost 40 years ago when they got married.

Font size is perfect. Red letter, edition, for the words of Jesus is wonderful.

It's expensive, but about what you would expect from a quality family bible.I have two other quality bibles that are similar, both of those are from the Fireside Bible publishing company; I have the Family Edition and the Wedding Edition. They are about the same price as this Bible, but not as nice. The Fireside bibles (which are published in Kansas) also has its own gift/keepsake box that the Bible comes in, and it's made out of imitation white leather with engravings on the cover. I had bought one on my own and the other was a gift from my mother-in-law (I would have told her not to get it if I had known she was getting it, because both editions are exactly alike). The Fireside bibles that I have have thicker paper than this bible and silver gilded pages instead... but that's where it ends as far as better quality, in my opinion.The difference between these two brands (Fireside Bibles in KS, and this bible by Catholic Book Publishing in NJ) are like Coke and Pepsi... Honda and Toyota. I bought both brands from Amazon directly, shipped and sold.This bible (by Catholic Book Publishing), is the same size, but has more pages, so the book itself is thicker and heavier. It's also made out of imitation soft leather hardcover, with an engraving design on the front cover, but it's beige instead of white. The pages are gold gilded, and not as thick as the Fireside ones... it's not as flimsy or see-through like the inexpensive bibles, which are like tissue paper; but it also does not have the same thickness as copy paper either (which makes Fireside the better paper quality bible, if that's important to you). However, the font size on this bible is bigger, maybe even a 12 size, so it's easier to read. Also, the words of Jesus are in red; and it has two ribbon markers attached to the book, a maroon colored one and a gold colored one. There's also a ton of illustrations, some in color and some not, and some of the illustrations are in the chapters of the testaments itself... but it's definitely more vibrant than the Fireside brand (which has lots of colorful photographs, but no illustrations).Overall, having three "heirloom" quality bibles that can be passed down for generations, two that are exactly alike from Fireside (with a slight difference on the front cover engraved design) and this one from Catholic Book Publishing, and with the prices comparable to all three editions... I would recommend this bible as the best quality bible as far as the "extras" that the Fireside bibles doesn't have; however, if paper quality is your main concern, the Fireside paper quality is much thicker than this bible.

In issuing this particular edition of the New Testament, Catholic Book Publishing have achieved the seemingly impossible - it has larger print but is still quite portable.This translation is probably the best modern English Bible and it certainly deserves to become more widely known. The many extra features also make this the most comprehensive study New Testament I have seen. The paper used for the text is very high quality and the flexible cover looks and feels like real leather. There is even a bookmark.All this said, there are two improvements which would make this edition truly perfect. No Bible which is printed in a larger font to help those who need bigger print should have the words of Christ displayed in red - thus making them much harder to read.In addition, including the Psalms with the New Testament would be a dynamic improvement, especially if the same level of explanatory material were provided for the Psalms as has been made available for the New Testament.This New Testament has already become a daily companion and I cannot recommend it too highly.

I love this Bible it’s such good quality and visually stunning. I particularly like the illustrated Rosary guide which includes all the Mysteries and the beautiful depicted Stations of the Cross, as well as the many coloured pictures of the Holy Land, maps and charts. Lovely 3D visuals of first century Jerusalem and Palestine include Solomon’s Temple and other important historical places. Footnotes for every verse are printed at the bottom of each page and are useful for study and increasing our understanding of the Bible and although the footnotes are in tiny print, they are presented in clear black modern font which makes them easier to see. I love that the pages of this Bible are very crisp and white and the main font is clear and well spaced. All the coloured photos and artwork are presented on thick glossy paper which adds to the aesthetics and I love that the Family history pages are in the middle of the Bible with a beautiful printed border. There is a nice presentation page at the front too.The Doctrinal and Bible dictionaries contain just the right amount of information without being overwhelming. Book intros have black and white illustrations and the chapter headings, along with bookend markers, make navigating the Bible simple and engaging.It is nicely held together with a sewn binding and includes one attached ribbon marker. The advert doesn’t mention that this version is the burgundy bonded leather edition, with gold edging, which I was doubly pleased about. It comes in a nice presentation box listing all the features and is ideal to give as a gift or just for personal use. The many helpful aids, footnotes, photos, illustrations etc are also suitable for a study group.This is one of the most gorgeous bibles I’ve ever owned and I absolutely love it. It has everything I could ever want in a Bible and includes a lifetime guarantee. Included in the box is information on how to register your Bible and a flyer showing more beautiful St. Joseph Bible Handbooks from the Catholic Publishing website.

I bought this product because I wanted the New Catholic Bible in a reasonable size. I bought the same translation in a "giant print" edition a month or two ago and it is excellent but very heavy and large. So I thought this smaller sized "leather bound" edition would be more portable and it is but the cover is made of some kind of plastic.I may return it except that it took such a long time to arrive by mail (from the USA). It even arrived late by several days from the estimated arrival date that Alexa gave for it - after the first arrival date passed Alexa revised its arrival date to 28th July (which is when it arrived).Apart from the disappointing cover material the bible is good. It has nice sized print and the book-block is stitched in signatures so I anticipate it will last well and the plastic imitation leather looks durable.I also noticed that the price has dropped (despite the currency exchange rate dropping) from $65 when I paid for it to $55 as I review it now on 30th July 2021.

I like this bible because its well organized by subject and is a sturdy book. The language is easy for those with high school and higher reading ability, not necessarily at that educational level . It has explanations and bible verses for further reading. I have other bibles and this one doesn't tire my eyes. It is the personal size and the font is smaller than the full size one. In my opinion it reads almost like a good book which I find enjoyable. This is the one that I read the most frequently. Its good quality and I didn't find it expensive for the product received.

This is a great Bible and contain a lot in it like art both in colour and simple illustration which is a great addition in the Bible. They contain helpful footnotes for understanding, illustrations for the rosary, Bible Dictionary, help on Catholic life, etc. It's great!
