Great value, top shelf product.
Awesome stuff, you can tell just by looking and holding the rocks that they are incredibly porous. I built my own custom sump and threw a whole bucket of this stuff in it, I can't even imagine how many bio-balls I would need to get the same surface area. For bio-filtration I can't think of anything that can out do this stuff. I'm pumping 2000 GPH through my sump and the water flow does not seem to be affected. Great value for 5 lbs compared to the prices for the smaller containers.

Works amazing
This is some of the best stuff out there. You still have to cycle your tank just like with any other product but once you do this stuff is golden and lasts forever.

This is Seachem Matrix in large
I have a 300gal aquarium and a 95gal sump. I love the regular Matrix but I had an issue in may setup. 3600gal of water is flowing from top trough the stack of 8l of regular Matrix. The bacteria will produce so much gas in one hour to hinder the flow though the stack. Water flows beside the stack and it will limits the flow. This stuff is bigger then the biggest junk in the regular Matrix. This fixes my flow issue even with 20l in the stack. I'm very happy.

Great product but hindered by fluff
Arrived in a box, not the bucket as shown. Although mostly filled with pond matrix, it wasn't completely full. There was a fair amount of regular stones in the mix. They have very smooth surfaces and are not porous. With very little effort I was able to pick out quite a few, which makes you wonder about their quality control. Here are some photos showing the contrast between regular stones vs matrix.

unbelievable filtration
working great. I have about 7 gallons of matrix filtering out about 160gallons of aquariums, some turtles, which are filthy. the matrix is doing outstanding at its job. no complaints here. yes its expensive. this entire hobby is expensive. whatever

Tons of this great stuff!
More Matrix then I will ever need! Considering using it as a base in the a fish tank... Helps keep nitrates down. What's not to like?
