AJCBattery Compatible with Portalac PX12072-HG 12V 7Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery

Previous home owners had a Verizon battery backup unit or optional network terminal (ONT) installed in basement. The old battery inside the unit was labeled top charge date 11/17/2010, which I think was the date the manufacturer last charged the battery. The home was built 10 yrs ago, which means the old battery must have lasted about that long. I got the red LED on the Verizon unit indicating the battery finally needed to be replaced. Never dealing with such a unit, this type of battery, and with no support or mention about this unit from Verizon before getting their service, I did my own research on how to replace.I found out these type of batteries come with different terminal sizes, which are the metal connector tabs sticking out the top of battery. There is F1 and F2 terminal. Both terminals barely look distinguishable in size, but F1 is smaller. I could not tell just from looking at the old battery which terminal size it was, but decided to go ahead and buy this battery anyway, which is an F1. Turns out The old battery was an F2 (see pics for size comparison).I still tried to see if the new battery would fit. I turned off the power from the unit by unplugging it from the outlet. Took out the old battery, used pliers to gently take off the connector spades since they were tightly attached, attached the connector to the new battery - it thankfully fit just fine, placed new battery into unit, plugged unit back in, and voila! It works. Now to see how long it will last. Would be nice if it lasted up to 10 years like its predecessor.

FYI... I just replaced the backup battery for my FIOS ONT. The old battery was "Top Charge" dated 02/26/2010, so it lasted almost ten years. I purchased a replacement from Amazon under $25 with free shipping which arrived in five days which included a holiday and a weekend. I had tried disconnecting the old battery and performing a cancel alarm reset. This canceled the beep every minute alarm however after about 24 hours a beep started to occur every 15 minutes. I repeated the reset twice in 48 hours but continued to have the every 15 minute alarm return after 24 hours. Since the old battery lasted so long and the replacement was relatively cheap and easy to replace I decided to avoid any future hassle. The new battery works perfect. This battery is an exact replacement and a great value.

Use it for Verizon back up battery and stopped holding a charge just after a year.

Can’t really rate longevity/battery life since I only recently installed it. But it was a drop in replacement for my FIOS ONT and made the maddening beeping stop. At least for now.

UPDATE: Less than a year later, the ONT box started beeping again, indicating a dead battery :( Pretty disappointed we didn't get at least a year out of this one, since the last battery lasted for ten! While researching alternate solutions, I found that Verizon doesn't even use these battery back-up ONT boxes anymore. If you still have one, Verizon will replace it with the latest type of ONT box for free, but there is a $99 service charge for the technician, or you can subscribe to their Inside Wiring service plan for $15/month (and cancel after 90 days... so $45 if you remember to cancel on time).-----This was what we needed to replace the battery in our older model Verizon FiOS ONT box. We were able to swap the battery out when it started beeping, for much less than Verizon wanted to charge for a replacement! I'm not sure how long the previous battery lasted, it was here when we moved in, so at least 10 years. I'll come back and update here if this one dies sooner than expected...
