We really like our solar tent and people always come up to us on the beach, asking where we got it. The assembly took time, especially for the first time. But once you figure out the drill, it's easy (5-10 mins). The solar tent provides a comprehensive coverage and extra privacy on the beach

Was nothing like I expected. Very flimsy & cheap made. Didn't last long.

There was a crack in one of the base pieces so the pole didn't stay in correctly. The unit was difficult to assemble and didn't work as expected. We returned it

Although it seems to have great potential, the assembly of this thing makes it pretty useless to me as an "everyday" sun shade for events like kids soccer games, picnics, playing in the yard, etc. I'm an experienced camper, put up full-blown tents hundreds of times. This thing requires as much space and nearly as much time to assemble as a medium-sized camping tent. The poles are extremely long which means you need about 20 feet of space to put it together. It also takes more than a few minutes; like I said I'm a pro at putting up tents, but I spent easily 20 minutes on this the first time and didn't even finish. It doesn't help that the instructions are just cartoonish pictures, no words (like Ikea).I had it about 75% assembled and can see it has a lot of potential; it seems to be durable and well designed. But the instructions didn't even make it clear how you set the roof and adjust it in different positions. Still, if you have the time and space to really get into it I guess you could get good at putting it together; it seems like it would work well *if* you take that time.

Item works as described, provides adequate shade, easy to set up, only slightly cumbersome to adjust once set up.

Pops up using similar concepts as tents, was sturdy in the wind, the repositioning was really simple and very effective, and the sidewall a big bonus. We did not use the groundsheet, but I can see that it would add extra tension (not that we needed it), or protection from wet grass etc.The whole thing is lightweight and comes in an easy-pack-and-carry bag. I put it in my aircraft carry-on, and the pegs even made it through security!The dimensions are made clear, but in descriptive terms: It's about the same amount of shade as an umbrella (one person lying on a towel, or a couple of people sitting - but it's not very tall, so use low chairs.) If you need more shade, for this price for pete's sake buy two!I would buy again. In fact, I might just buy that second one now!

I am extremely disappointed not only in this product but also in the very short window for returns. I am only writing this review in an effort for others to not make the same unfortunate mistake I did

I'm using this item to provide shade to my dogs during the hot afternoons. They were a little scared at first but soon realized if offered them a shady spot to lie on the grass. I assembled it by myself (which is doable) but would recommend it be set up with two people available. I was concerned at first whether it would hold up under heavy rain and/or mild wind but have found that the rain rolls right off it and the wind passes through with no problems. I live in Hawaii where the sun shines all year long and we get 140 inches of rain per year (usually at night) and I am very happy to have discovered this item and very pleased how well it is working for what I intended to use it for. It stands high enough for me to join my dogs if I'm in a seated or kneeling position or standing but bent over.10/07/2014 Changing my initial rating of 5 stars to 3 stars due mainly to lack of response by company to my inquiry about warranty coverage. Under technical info it states that there is a 2 year warranty on parts. I have had my Skincom for about 4 months and I started noticing small slits forming on the adjustable top, which I immediately covered with duct tape to prevent the slits from getting larger. Its as if the top is deteriorating due to the sunlight. (this also lowers my rating)I emailed a note asking for a new top since the warranty states 2 years on parts and I have only had the product 4 months. I have received no response from the company and am getting that feeling that I won't be hearing from them.
