Game changer for landlords
We have around 20 apartments at the same building and it has been great to be able to use a single master key for all the apartments, now I can keep the one key on my keychain vs heading out to help with some maintenance/check after someone has moved out and realizing I forgot to grab the key for that apartment when I get there. You can rekey all the different locks in literally a couple of seconds, as well as being able to rekey all the cylinders for the same master even if you get a different batch of locks, all you have to do is rotate the outer cover on the front of the lock to the top where the master key cylinder is located and doing the same process as to rekey the tenant key. Also gives some peace of mind when old tenants move out if they were to hang onto a key and potentially being able to get back in after they have moved out so each new tenant has a different key than before. No complaints as of yet they have been great.

Great product...with a frustrating flaw
We own 6 rental properties, manage 4 others, and we hope to own more soon. Managing keys was getting to be a challenge as we maintain 4 sets of keys for each property (my car, my wife's car, our office set, and the tenant set). Re-keying a property required 5 sets of to be replaced. This lock made the process much easier as we now only keep 1 master key in each vehicle and 1 in the office. We also keep 1 copy of the tenant key in our office. When we re-key we will just swap the tenant keys from one house to another so we don't actually need to buy new keys...and our master will always work.It was a 10 second process to re-key each lock to use the same master key, so that was easy. In the future it will be that easy to re-key the tenant keys as well. The only problem was that now I only have 1 copy of the master key, if I lost it then I would have to buy the re-key cradle and disassemble every lock to re-key to a new master key. Not ideal. Here's where things got SUPER frustrating for me...trying to get a copy of the master key was a nightmare. It looks very similar to the tenant key shape but it is just different enough that a tenant key won't work. The tenant key uses key style "KW1" which any key machine or hardware store can make. The master key uses an "816" style with Kwikset Model Number 83382. If you take the master key to a key kiosk or hardware store then they will think it is the same as a KW1 and will copy it for you. It will not work, trust me on this I tried: Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, Minute Key, and KeyMe.I called local locksmiths and they did not know of an "816" key.Last resort - I read the Q&A section on Amazon and found someone saying they had to order keys from Kwikset and they provided the phone number (Thank you!). I called Kwikset and the CS agent was very polite and offered to send me 4 master key blanks for free. That's awesome because at this point I was quite frustrated. But wait, there's more! After placing the order for the spare keys, the CS agent said the keys were backordered for 6-8 weeks! I searched online for other ways to buy the keys. HomeDepot showed I could buy 10 for $2.38, cool I'll do that. I placed the order but the website gave me an error. I called CS and they said the website was wrong and they actually did not have any in stock. Everywhere else online wanted $15-30 PER KEY.So, I'm being very careful with my key and waiting 6-8 weeks with fingers crossed. When I get them in then I'll have to find a locksmith that will cut them for me. I sure hope that is easier than what I've been through so far!I suggested to the CS agent that they could simplify this by just including a blank key in the box with the lock. Then if you need a copy of that master key or a master key from another lock then you can get it made at a locksmith. I hope they do this in the future.

These work great and I enjoy the lock switch feature
These work great and I enjoy the lock switch feature. I combined this bolt with a door handle that I put on my front door. It looks great and was easy to install. I had no trouble with the lock changing feature. Overall I am happy and it was worth the money

Great and gorgeous deadbolt
Our front door has a very pretty square shaped lock lever in matte black so I ordered this matte black deadbolt to match. This is a great quality deadbolt, has a great design and is 100% heavy duty. This deadbolt provides both elegance and security. Kudos.

Kwikset Single Cylinder Deadbolt..
Bought this as a replacement to an older model of the same deadbolt. Instructions that came with it are clear and informative. Just one note, the backside bolt, make sure you are lining it up correctly with the "Open/Locked" position when using the front keyhole side. For example, when you use your key to lock the deadbolt, on the inside of the door showing the "Open/Locked" position will look reversed. The bolt will show "Open" when you actually used the key to lock it.

Excellent deadbolt, but will only fit in 2 1/8" hole
This installs very easily, and once installed operates very smoothly. It really feels like a quality deadbolt, which IMO is a great thing for your own peace of mind but also your tenant's. If you weren't familiar with this style of deadbolt you'd have no idea there was a second lock cylinder in there, either. One note though, my entry door only had a 1 1/2" hole and not the 2 1/8" hole this lock requires. Re-drilling a perfectly centered hole in a steel-faced door is tricky, so what i did instead is trace an outline of the hole size I needed, then drilled a whole bunch of 1/16" holes around that circle on either side of the door. Then chiseled/filed that hole to final size. Took a bit of work and made a mess, but it was pretty straightforward and meant that I didn't have to either replace the door or find a new deadbolt.

Buena chapa!
O quizá yo no estoy entendiendo algo. En fin. Por lo demás, todo muy bien.
