Great book! This book is my favorite for learning step by step clay techniques. It gives you great ideas on material to use. Everything starts from a basic shape and this book clearly walks you through each shape and what you can make it into. Some items are a bit detailed and advanced but with the simple directions anything is possible with this book.

I received the book on time... thank you very much.... for some reason or another there was a mistake on the reviews I gave last time.. and im so sorry for that my phone was going crazy on me. I will never give a bad review on something that I got first of all for a good price and good quality.. I'm so sorry for the misunderstanding from my part...

Good book. Lays out the directions well. Good for the young and not so young.

Loved the photos, graphics, layout of the book, and the characters to create are adorable. Coud be a bit too challenging for some kids though. Makes a nice gift for any sculptors who want to make fairy creatures full of personality.

The author taught how to form shapes to make animals, fantasy characters, and other charming pieces. She told a story as she taught the making of each piece about a dragon and his scales, and all of his friends trying to find him and help him. Absolutely delightful start and unique way to teach an art lesson.

This book and one other were birthday gifts for my 15 year old grandson, so I e-mailed him to get HIS opinion.He was very concise,"I'd say both rate around four stars out of five, or an 8 (scale of 1 - 10)"I had seen some of Maureen Carlson's work so I figured the book would certainly be a good introduction to clay figures.

This wonderful book shows and explains exactly how to make little people (fairies,elf, goblins,etc) from polymer clay. The step by step instructions are easy to follow. How to roll and construct from balls of clay, the exact thickness of the clay, as well as how to lighten colours. This is a start to finish book for both children and adults. I'm an oldie and I love it . The wife says I'll never be to old to learn (and how right she is) Have fun!!

Bought this book after seeing it on the back cover of another of her books that I picked up in a charity shop. When it came I was really impressed as it surpassed all my expectations. Simple enough for my daughter to do yet still look impressive and not childish when I do them.. Instructions for more figures than I had expected with ideas on variations to make even more. Would recommend for both beginners and more experienced clayworkers of all ages.

Fab book with step by step instructions on how to make various goblins and people and fairies dragons ect - actually bought it as a present for my nephew but had to order the same one again as once my daughter saw it she wanted to keep it - so much so that she raided her money box and offered to pay for it herself! She made the goblin straight away and said it was much better than the other book by this author that she had borrowed from the library - now she knows how to sculpt eyes and noses which she was most delighted about . Daughter is 9 and nephew is 11

This is a really well produced book giving clear instructions for appealing and achievable projects. My granddaughter got started at once and was pleased with what she produced. A month later she was still enjoying it.

The characters inside this book are beautiful. You think the characters on the front cover are cute you wait until you see inside there are even more. Animals, teddy bears, pixies and reptiles all with very easy step by step instructions on how to make them. Each instruction is accompanied by a photo so you can see exactly what you are supposed to be making.Book starts with how to handle polymer clay. Then how to make basic shapes, how to use the basic shapes to make the characters, how to mix new colours and how to bake your characters including how to support them so they don't sag when they are in the oven.I expected the characters on the front cover to be the best ones in the book but the ones inside are just as cute.An excellent book and one I would highly recommend.
