Evening Scandal

I love one song by Bobby Caldwell, but I discovered after listening to this CD that I do much care for his other songs. Nevertheless, I am glad that I ordered this CD after learning of the death of Bobby Caldwell so I at least have a back-up copy of "What you Won't Do for Love".

I really like "What you won't do for Love" -- my main reason for getting this CD. Very smooth voice... The other songs I wasn't very familiar with, but really like Caldwell's voice, so didn't mind listening to them.

The price was good, the condition was excellent, and the sound quality of the CD was excellent.Took a little more time to get to me than I expected but I am satisfied with the product.

I had this on wax and someone stole it during a party and I was heartbroken. Bobby Caldwell was one of my favorites back in the day. I waited forever for an opportunity to get this. The whole CD is wonderful but I must confess I have my perferences. The best cuts are "special to me, my flame, Can't say Goodbye and of course, What You Won't Do for Love". This is music for a different age and about a different time when it was so so good and made for the soul.If you are looking for that classical contemporary style of old school Jazz, this CD is for you. 92 year old mom had not heard this song (What you won't do for love) In a very long time and when she heard the Mitsubishi commercial she recorded the 30 second snippet. She would play this over and over again. I am so grateful that I was able to find and buy this album. To see the look on her face when she plays this song is priceless. Thanks Amazon. What a way to shop. Love it

晴れた日のドライブの時に聞くと最高。

Avec Bobby Caldwell on est en plein son West Coast et cet album fait passer un très bon moment, plus de 40 ans après son enregistrement. Les amateurs du son californien vont adorer ces morceaux jazz-pop-soul avec production très soignée comme il se doit. Il s'agit ici de son 1er album et il montre ses talents d'auteur-compositeur et surtout une très belle voix, assez bluffante, pleine de soul et de groove, à tel point qu'on pourrait penser à un chanteur noir américain alors que ça n'est pas du tout le cas! La pochette est très belle mais la maison de disques, maline, ne montre que la silhouette du chanteur dans l'ombre, assis sur un banc pour maintenir l'ambiguïté auprès du public! Trouvant quand même que l'album manque de tubes, elle demande à Caldwell de retourner en studio où il enregistre What you won't do for love, son plus grand hit, assez irrésistible! Mais l'album a plein d'autres excellents titres dont Can't say goodbye, un bonheur ou My flame. Caldwell est aujourd'hui assez oublié en Europe, même aux Etats-Unis (sauf des rappeurs qui l'ont beaucoup samplé!). Seul pays où il reste une énorme vedette, le Japon (il y est surnommé "Mr AOR"!), où il se produit à guichets fermés mais ces dernières années, il se concentre dans un registre plus jazz. Et ce sont les Japonais qui ont réédité cet album, de même que beaucoup de la même veine car le public nippon est très fan de la musique californienne, ce qu'ils appellent Adult Oriented Rock (je n'ai jamais trop compris toutes ces étiquettes mais peu importe...). C'est tant mieux car sans eux, il est quasi certain que beaucoup d'artistes et d'albums de cette période seraient complètement passés aux oubliettes!!! Quand on écoute des artistes comme Caldwell, on se dit que ce serait vraiment injuste.
