Decent turntable with one major caveat
I'm rating it a 5 star with one simple caveat; the "Scratch Switch" is absolute garbage for anyone that's got any real scratching experience. Without a Scratch Switch replacement (imo a Jesse Dean fader is an ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT to properly use/enjoy this) this is at best a toy that I would rate 1-star.The ability to fairly simply replace the Scratch Switch makes it a 5-star, but the stock Scratch Switch is almost insulting to anyone that's got any scratching experience. There's WAY too much throw and it's nearly impossible to crab with, or do anything that requires quick precise cuts. As-is, it's an OK beginner's tool, but if you're 100% serious about scratching, factor in that you will 100% need to invest in one of the various crossfader mods that are out there, with the Contactless Jesse Dean being IMO the best you can get, since it all fits inside the unit and doesn't need any external gear or holders/wiring to scratch; you just open the lid, power on and get scratching. Without a crossfader mod, this is at best a toy, or useful to people who just want a turntable with USB capabilities to archive your 33/45/78 records.I absolutely recommend it to anyone who wants to use this thing to scratch, BUT only if you plan on getting some sort of scratch-switch/crossfader mod for it. It's an INCREDIBLE platform for modding and expanding, but leaves a LOT to be desired out-of-the-box.

Great turntable. Buy it.
Nice. Batteries bounce in the case if you carry by the handle. I recommend getting a bag when going a long distance with it. Fader has an unexpected feel but I love it now. Internal speaker is okay for practice but get an external speaker for the barbecue jam session or chilling in the park.

So much fun. Easy to use.
This is exactly what you think. An entry level turntable that allows scratching and cross fading. It’s fun.I was ripping old records within minutes of unboxing. At $220 bucks it’s a fair investment even if you turn around and buy a pair of 1200s for a couple grand. Batteries will have you annoying people at the park. The hard shell case gives serious 1979 vibes but redone in a hard black with red felt. It’s bad ass. That’s why I choose empire to rip first.I already love this little guy a week in even if most of the time I’ll just use it to digitize vinyl with the free software.Forced negative perceptions: if an aftermarket cross fader is better why not allow a bundled one? Other colour options would be fun?(i love black and red but there are other palettes out there. )… would also love an option for automatic bar placement?
