Coffee-table book
I couldn't warm to this book. If you want a coffee-table book with lots of pretty pictures, this is for you. I prefer depth, content and found Rachel Roddy's book significantly better in this respect. Also, Tasting Rome is a very meat-heavy cookbook, with few vegetable dishes or meatless options, and no soups at all!

More than a Cookbook, it is a real city guide into Rome's cuisine
I have been following Katie Parla's food blog since I came to live in Rome and it was always my trusted resource to understand Rome's food culture and where I needed to go in order eat well in this city (which is not all that easy as one might think). Since I also maintain a food blog, it is only normal that when I discovered that this book was being released, I got very excited. The book arrived some days ago and it turn out to be the cookbook that Rome that was missing. Really..The content in the book is organized into very meaningful chapters, that make it very complete considering Rome's food scene (Snacks, Starters and Street Food; Classic dishes, Cucina Ebraica, Quinto Quarto, Verdure; Bread and Pizza; Sweets and Drinks). It is full of beautiful photographs, showing some of the best views in the city, people, markets and dishes. Maybe I would have liked to see a picture for every recipe, but still, most of them are accompanied by the respective photograph. TheThe book describes beautifully and accurately the city, what is it like to live in it and the culture (not only foodwise). Each recipe is introduced for a reason and as we move from recipe to recipe we get a clearer picture of the Roman cuisine and from its' origins. This is the real deal, it is written by people that live in the city and that obviously know it really well.I recommend this book for everyone that admires the city of Rome and it's food culture. I think it is a great acquisition for anyone with a connection to the city, from the Roman "born and raised", to the expat living in the city (like myself), up to the to the foreigner that wants to learn more about the city culture and its' food. This is definitely the Roman cookbook I wanted in my collection. Big thanks to Katie and Kristina.

Real Italian Flavour.
Great book. Lots of pictures. Easy to follow recipes. Real Italian flavour in the dishes prepared. A nice amount of side-story about each recipe. Can be read as a book, not just for the recipes
