Incredible devotional tool
Paul David Tripp is a very prolific and practical writer - I've yet to be disappointed in any of his works. This particular volume is intensely insightful, practical and easy to identify with the human conditions so aptly described. His exposition of important Biblical truths is exceptional and he's been gifted by God greatly. It's wonderful that he chooses to share his insights to help others.

glad i got this book
i'm giving it 5 stars because i have really found this to be a very helpful tool as a group meditation discussion. I host this discussion for people who are going through some very difficult painful times in their lives and it has questions after each mediation that are thought and heart provoking to help deal with loving truths we all must deal with in times of trouble. And to be able to do this as a christian group discussion every week has been powerful in the christian walk of each of their lives. It's a deeper discussions then some of the shallow talk among christian circles. I am new to Paul David tripp's writtings this year and so far he has not disappointed me at all. This is my third book i've gotten from him and it won't be the last.

Wonderful book. I've purchased copies to give to friends to serve as a reminder that there is Hope when trials come. Wonderful book of truth and alsos the blessing of knowing Christ, a reminder that it is rewarding to be a follower but sometimes the road will be hard, but we have hope if we know Him.

Small book, big content
Although this book is almost "booklet" in form, it has lots of biblical insights and spiritual meat for those who go through touch times. Paul David Tripp is one of my favorite authors who is not only known as a pastor but also a much in demand counselor and speaker. Taken from Psalm 27, he gives reflection, personal testimony, and wisdom with honest transparancy of hope and faith in Christ.I would not hestitate to give this book as a gift of encouragment to anyone who feels their circumstances are beyond remedy. I thought this would be a larger book but the smaller size and fewer pages can allow anyone to use as a quick reference or personal devotional especially for chaplains and ministers. I dont believe you will be dissapointed.

excellent devotional
I became familiar with Tripp from the GriefShare video's - his remarks were very helpful and I was impressed with his wisdom. I decided to look for books he had written and this is the first I'm reading. Its not about grief per see, though it is definitely helpful in that regard too. he is on the way to becoming a favorite author!

Great book about Psalm 27
Great meditations on Psalm 27. So deep how the writer goes into detail of describing the feelings of the Psalm.

A one-off
It's surprising that nobody else has reviewed this book yet. It feels a bit spooky to be the first person to do so, especially when so many others have recommended it to us.This slim volume consists of a series of short meditations on Psalm 27, focusing on the messiness and complexity of human existence, and helping us to find and focus on our eternal, unchanging God in the midst of change, contradiction, uncertainty and all the other painful 'stuff that happens'.My wife and I worked our way through the book, reading a chapter together each night - and found it a constructive and highly reflective way to close off each day. Largely, I suspect, because Tripp keeps taking you back to the same passage of Scripture, you begin to find God speaking directly to you through the events that you've been going through. The author helpfully makes the reader refocus on the kinds of unchanging truth which give stability and purpose in our ephemeral society, and provides a framework that equips us time and time again to address the real issues that so often entirely confound us.Sometimes, I found myself not entirely convinced by the author's poems, (hence four stars), but I did (usually) find them to provide a useful way of meditating on the passage in question.Overall, a very helpful resource for Christians wishing to use the Psalms devotionally.
