Been a fan since 2008.
Absolutely love this show. I started watching it in middle school when I was about 13 and I'm now about to be 28 and I'm still so hooked. I love it so much.

Great Show
I had not watched the first season of this show, but caught a couple of the new season so I wanted to go back and get the first one.To start with, Morgan Freeman is a great host of the show. I have always liked him and his voice and personality match the show perfectly and makes it easy to listen to.The show itself addresses various issues that many people think about from time-to-time and often crosses into the areas where science fiction and science fact meet, such as whether there are aliens from outer space. The various experts on the subject matter are engaging and work well to try to present the material in a manner that is easy for a layman to follow, but you do not feel that they are talking down to you. Instead you feel they are making an effort to bring difficult concepts across in an easy manner. Some of the episodes also work well for older children, especially if they are curious about science. One thing to note is you may want to take a look at the episodes. For example, like the concept of life after death (second season, not this DVD) or that aliens may be things that may not be appropriate depending on the particular child - not that they are scary, but you may want to give a quick run through the various episodes to make sure it works for you children if you are watching with them.

Exactly what people need to see. Evolution does not contradict there being a G-d or all powerful force.
Morgan Freeman does a wonderful job as usual. He and James Earl Jones are the best narrators we have. I think this should be shown in schools at least to 7th graders. This series does not contradict a belief in G-d to me it increases faith that there must be an all powerful force. This force is way beyond our understanding but is certainly not some bearded MAN in the sky. In fact the idea that this force has a gender at all shows how little we know. The only value of personifying this force is for metaphor which helps us sometimes grasp complexities. To deny evolution is to be stupid. Only a great force could make evolution possible. The story of a garden of Eden is a poem which helps the young understand an all powerful force but then falls down at the point when it blames women for our fall and the idea of sin. "An Apple a day keeps the doctor away" becomes even more humorous when we think of blaming Eve for tasting an apple. Only someone with no ability to understand the metaphor of knowledge would believe we should blame Eve. However, it is that story along with Freud that has caused such hatred and fear of women in all societies. Watching "Through the Wormhole" as well as "How the Universe(s)was Made"should help people get a grasp. A must see.

Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman
Not having cable, I didn't know about this series, so I bought it based on my sister's recommendation. After watching the series, an odd thing happened. I found a magazine: "Time 100 New Scientific Discoveries" which might as well have been called a scientific up-date for Through the Wormhole! So many of the episodes from the series were not only validated by the magazine, but proved to be stepping stones to even greater developments. That, to me, says that Through the Wormhole is "cutting edge" science and well worth the watching. In other words, you can trust the sources as being reliable and informed - not just theory and conjecture.Yes, I found the camera work annoying also, but it's still worth the watching for the insights that they present. Their take on Dark Matter, alone, was worth the price of admission. For those with a scientific mind-bend, this needs to be in your library. For those of you who can't understand scientific stuff - this is for you also - it's presented so you can get it!

Amazing Show but Poor Quality DVD
The show itself is amazing and thought provoking but as a DVD, it's poor in quality. The Subtitles are automatically set on so every time you turn the show on you have to be sure to set the subtitles off. Also there are no special features and the DVD menu itself looks like something I can whip up on roxio in two seconds. However, I still love the show and can easily watch the episodes multiple times.

Incredibly well-made and insightful series! Anyone with an interest in physics should watch this.
Such an insightful and well-researched series. And you can never go wrong with Morgan Freeman's narration! I'm watching with my husband and we pause each episode in order to debate and do our own independent research, then come back and continue watching the rest of the episode. It takes us hours to watch each one! Haha. It will probably be years until we're done watching the series, and I can't believe they were able to make so many seasons of this, but I am looking forward to many more episodes.

On the top of my favorites! I whatch it over and over.
Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman series I and IIMr. Freeman provides an excellent narration at times entertaining makes it so easy to captivate your attention. I can listen to it even when not watching. I can run the tape in my mind and know exactly where in the tape he is. Every time I listen or watch it I understand the one thing I did not catch prior. The questions raised at times philosophical others factual, make one realize the efforts and persistence of the human mind to understand creation and our relationship to GOD Who is all that is created. Our fascination with the riddles of science and our attempts to reach just a little deeper, a little further, maybe one more equation and soon we will be meeting her/him/it.This delightful documentary is thought provoking and one the best I have seen.

Morgan Freeman elevates this series above other science series.
This is my favorite scientific TV series. It benefits from having Morgan Freeman as the host and narrator. He helps prevent the series from plodding along as other series do at times ("How the Universe Works"). Freeman appears on camera occasionally during the show and he seems to be genuinely interested in the topics. The series best attribute is the lack of the "experts" from what I call the list of "usual suspects" that appear on other series. You know the ones I mean. They often talk in overly forceful, almost pompous, tones and they frequently seem to be there to promote themselves more than making a contribution to the topic.

Finally found something :-)
...About 10 years ago (I think), I watched the BBC documentary series SPACE, presented by Sam Neill. I really enjoyed how the different Subjects: Star Stuff, Staying Alive, Black Holes, Are we Alone?, New Worlds, & Boldly Go, were all explained using a combination, not just of the facts, & CGI, but also Sam Neill's wonderful (& easy to understand) presentation.Since then I've been on the lookout for similar pieces of work. In the recent past I've watched Wonders Of The Solar System, & the 1st series of The History Channels Universe. While these two documentaries are good in their own right, neither of them really captured my attention, & imagination, like SPACE.Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman does this 100%.

Engaging
This is a massive scientific documentary exploration, for amazingly little money. Well worth it.Morgan Freeman narrates/hosts, but the producers do not dwell upon his participation, milking it as perhaps one would think they might. Instead, they utilize all their time doing what they ought to do: discussing very serious scientific principles and concepts with academic experts. After viewing the entire series, one may develop a 'layman thinking headache'. Such aches are welcome. Also, one will certainly have a yearning for more; perhaps the producers will indulge us further as years go by, returning to these subjects with updated information/discoveries. One hopes so (!).Excellent.

Quality will prevail
What an interesting and informative series this is. It starts and continues with aspects of the Cosmos and reflects on how this can, and does, affect life as we live it.I could rant on for hours giving so many spoilers which would be unfair, so I can only advise anyone that is interested in space, outer space, our galaxy and so many more galaxies to buy this and thoroughly enjoy.I am now looking for the continuation series to feed my insatiable appetite for this subject.
