Pros:- Deeper than a lot of hutches and kitchen storage furniture, so it fits my larger pots and pans and all of my funky kitchen tools like a spiralizer and salad spinner and such.- asymmetrical doors add a little interest while overall matching my simple white kitchen cabinets, and you can build it with the small door on either side so it’s flexible for placement in your space- the thinner door opens fully out 180 degrees, so the shelves in each section are next to each other. I can open the thing and see everything in one go, an asset to my addled mind.- the front doors, handles, and hinges are all reasonably good hardware and construction, slightly nicer than I would expect at this price point- I bought the white cabinet and it is in fact very standard melamine white, no faux patina nonsense and no trying to match ivories or whatever- everything was clearly labeled and there were no missing pieces. I especially liked the hardware packaging, little bubbles for each labeled item with perforations to tear open, very helpful.- the instruction manual was clearly written in good English with the occasional personal touch, kudos to whoever pays their editors.- there was only like five pieces of styrofoam, thank goodness!Cons:- This thing was a PAIN to assemble, and I don’t say that lightly. I am an avid ikea furniture assembler, I love doing puzzles and putting stuff together. I ask friends if I can come help them assemble their furniture after they buy stuff for new babies because I find it so satisfying. My partner is literally a woodworker, he is making a bench right now, he owns his own shop space, etc. Our skills combined did NOT make it easy. The pieces themselves all seem mostly fine, but goodness assembly was hard. It took us the better part of a very sweaty day to build.We ended up putting a shelf in wrong way round and didn’t notice until the very end - we will be covering the exposed edge with our own melamine tape. The base was a huge PITA to assemble, and once it was on it was a good half inch out of alignment with the sides with very little way to fix it, which led to problems down the road. Because of its asymmetrical nature and how you can have the doors flipped, you have to drill through specific holes and leave others alone - this was not super clear in the instructions, and also if you need a proper drill bit that is not good flat pack furniture etiquette imo. I ended up drilling through some wrong holes and now the base and top of my cabinet have cracks in the surface, and I can’t neatly fix them because again, melamine.And the BACK, omg. It is truly some of the thinnest cardboard I’ve seen yet, its only saving grace being that the white side very closely matches the rest of the pieces. There is almost no room for error when you put it on, either. Because of the aforementioned issues with the base, everything was kind of tilted a bit, and I ended up nailing into thin air, or into the edges of supports and splintering them, and there is a gap in the back… ugh. And, you have to nail in a million nails all around, I am pretty good with a hammer but I whacked my thumb a fair few times during the process. It would have been better with glue, frankly.The anti-tip strap is really flimsy, and screwing it into the wall was somehow impossible. We are very familiar with drywall anchors and this was some kind of weird style. Also it doesn’t include hardware to screw into a stud, which seems shortsighted and cheap.At one point they tell you to set a door somehow hovering a few inches in the air so you can screw in hinges correctly. They suggest using packaging or books to lift it up. Holy moly. This led to a comedic dance of my partner holding the door like some kind of power lifter between his legs and me running around trying to get three stacks of different books to all equal the same height. It was absurd. There must have been a better way but by that time we were too sweaty and tired to think of it.- Okay. Rant about assembly over. But I also have to say that this thing is heavy and adjusting the feet to get things level was a scary two person job. A lot of it was definitely two person, like flipping the thing to nail on the back, or getting the big door attached with adjustable hinges while it’s upright, but that was the one where I feared getting crushed.- It does indeed have a pretty strong chemical smell, but only AFTER assembly and it standing for a day or so. All the fumes collect inside so every time I open it I’m wafted in the face. That said, it’s really not a huge deal, nor unexpected with materials like this. If you want your cabinets to smell nice, buy cedar. But if you are very sensitive to smells plan on leaving it open for a few days to air out.- it doesn’t have enough shelves, I think. I could fit way more stuff in both sides if I had about four more shelves in there. The spaces are tall and there is a lot wasted. I’m probably going to build some additional shelves myself, and that will probably cost half the price of the whole unit.Conclusion:My standards for furniture are too high and I should have budgeted for something a heck of a lot nicer. Just because we are highly skilled furniture assembly people doesn’t mean the hours of work were worth the quality of the end product. However, I feel like I tripled my kitchen storage space in a day, and maybe that IS worth it, until I can afford something else. Not that I’m having visitors these days, but if I were to, they would be impressed by the appearance of the cabinet, as long as they didn’t look too closely. Despite the wonkiness in assembly, it’s level and relatively sturdy in the end, and it arrived all in good shape, too. When I look at the cost, vs how much work it took to build, vs the result, I think I come out better than dead even.

I make my own eLiquid for vaping, so I have a lot of fairly small bottles of flavorings that need to be stored upright, gallon jugs of VG and PG, and the delicate lab equipment needed to accurately measure and mix these ingredients. Until I purchased this cabinet, all this stuff was all over the place, stored in various makeshift containers that weren't really suitable. When I saw this cabinet on Amazon, I thought it'd be perfect for my particular storage needs - a single unit where I could keep everything in one place, and keep all my equipment stored safely. Happily, the cabinet was everything I'd hoped it would be, and then some. I'm able to store ALL my gear in a single place, with room to spare.I recognized right away, though, that the cabinet could become top-heavy, and thus a hazard for falling over. At the same time, I didn't want to install the keeper strap, as doing so would prevent me from moving the cabinet easily for cleaning behind/under it, so I compromised by storing heavy books and the gallon jugs on the bottom shelves to keep the unit's center of gravity low to the floor and mitigate the risk of falling over. The books are really heavy and won't be removed from the cabinet while the upper shelves contain materials and equipment. That's not the solution for everyone; it just happens to work in my particular case. It'd be really easy to overload the upper shelves without counterweighting the lower shelves, making the unit a risk for becoming unstable when the doors were opened and thus tipping over onto the person that opened the door. It's probably a really good idea to install that strap under normal usage.I was concerned when the unit arrived - the outer shrink-wrap had been torn extensively, and the protective cardboard corner pieces where coming out. Fortunately, though, the inner box was still in one piece, so nothing inside was damaged and there were no missing pieces. That being said, one needs to VERY carefully inspect all the wood pieces against breakage in case the unit was dropped or handled roughly during shipping in a manner that wouldn't show obvious damage on the outer packaging and wrappings. Also, the UPS delivery man knocked on my door, saying he needed help offloading the box and moving it to my door; if I hadn't been at home when he arrived, he indicated he wouldn't have attempted to move the box by himself and would have taken it back to the depot to arrange a time with me so I could be there to assist him. That was kind of odd; I never had a delivery man say that before, but he was right that the box was too heavy for one person to move.Before moving on to assembly, I should also note that this is a complex piece of furniture that gives you the flexibility of having the shelf door on the left or right. To accommodate this, there are HUNDREDS of precision-drilled holes all over the pieces that make up this unit. These pieces are mass-produced, and after so many, the drills and hole-saws and auger bits that make these precision holes get dull, so they're actually 'tearing' out wood instead of cutting it cleanly, which can have a big impact on 'surface' wood being torn away, exposing the composite wood underneath, and this could wind up being exposed in your finished cabinet. My unit showed quite a bit of this condition, but fortunately, the exposed composite was small enough to be covered over by other pieces.To assemble the unit, you need a wide-open area, preferably carpeted, or covered by a blanket or even the flattened shipping box to protect the cabinet's finish as you assemble it. From experience, these pieces are delicate, and easily scratched or nicked during assembly, so take as much care as possible to protect the pieces during this stage. Try to assemble the unit as close as possible to its final location; it's heavy and bulky, so have plenty of help and be sure to protect the unit and walls/doors if you have to assemble it elsewhere and then move it to the final spot.Assembly was actually quite simple. The pieces are all clearly marked, the instruction manual was actually quite helpful, and the hardware bag was really well done - clearly marked and all pieces accounted for. There's a bit of room for improvement - calling out the shelves with lips to make sure they're installed correctly comes to mind, but generally the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I had difficulties with only two things - the 'big' door hinges were HARD to install and adjust properly, and the cabinet base design makes it difficult to adjust the support feet and and leveling pads. Mine was going to a tiled floor, and quite a bit of adjustment was necessary to get the cabinet properly leveled. That process actually took more time than it did to assemble the cabinet, and was made longer by having to lever the cabinet up to gain access to the leveling pads. After it was all done, though, the cabinet sat solidly, no rocking, and both doors were evenly seated and closing properly. Assembly was quick and fairly easy, but the Devil, as they say, lies in the detail work of fitting the cabinet to its final resting place.One other thing to consider is how delicate the finish is on these composite wood pieces. They nick and scratch easily as you're handling them, so consider investing in some filler/coloring products to cover over any ouchies after you're done. The pieces are really dusty too, so a good cleaning and polishing throughout is essential before loading it up.All said, I'm pretty satisfied overall with this Sauder product, though I believe there could have been better quality control during the manufacturing phase with the hole drilling. As long as you understand that assembling this cabinet is going to be a several-hour investment, and prepare your work space beforehand, and follow the instructions carefully, you shouldn't have any problems. You will need a drill to drill holes, but that's a minimal thing, and you can do the rest with hand tools.Hope you found this review helpful if you're considering purchasing this unit.

I received this Sauder Cabinet about two weeks ago and my son-in-law built it about a week ago. It took him about three hours to build it by himself and he had no difficulty at all. There is so much storage space! On the large side, I stored all our appliances that have been cluttering our counters. (Artisan Stand Mixer, Air Fryer, Large Cuisinart Food Processor, 4-Slice Toaster, Small Food Processor, Waffle Iron, Steam Iron for Clothes, Blender, 6-Quart Instant Pot, and my sewing machine. The Sewing Machine, Stand Mixer, and Large Food Processor are on the two permanent shelves because they hold the most weight.) Those are all on the large side of the cabinet. Then on the smaller side that also has shelves in the door, I stored paper products on the cabinet shelves and stored medications on the two top door shelves, and some odds and ends on the lower door shelves. The shelves on the door have a lip on the edge of them so the items stored there do not fall off. Also, my son-in-law attached the safety thingy that was included. That, to me, is extremely important as I have very young grandchildren who visit often. Please don’t skip that step.Amazon sent this through their scheduled delivery on a larger truck with two men carrying it into the house. They left it right inside the house so it would be safe from rain, etc. They were very courteous and arrived as scheduled, texting shortly before their arrival.I have bought a number of Sauder items and have been pleased with each one. The descriptions are always spot on, the building directions are good, the quality is excellent, and they have all been great-looking!I am extremely pleased with this product and highly recommend it to anyone who wants more storage room.

This is a wonderful addition to my kitchen. It was easy to assemble and the directions were clear and easy to follow. Definitely a task for 2 people...but it was quick and easy.

It is a beautiful cabinet, exactly what I need for storage.Very disappointed with the delivery, it looked like it had been on a truck and right in the way for a very long time. That fact may have been the reason for the number of marks on the cabinet, or maybe it was just a poor finish. Either way I have about 8 blemishes on my new cabinet, not huge but definitely noticeable. Unfortunately I needed it asap and it is quite heavy so returning it would also have been awkward and frustrating. If I had not had these problems I would rate it a 5 and change value for the money to a 5. Ease of assembly, well we had issues with the boards lining up as intended so the 3 remains.
