Best Trivia Game
This Trivia game is my absolute favorite. I love the style of the game, rather than it being a standard ask questions give correct answer, getting to steal questions because you know more characters or titles to a questions than your friends is a refreshing change to trivia games. The fact my friends can come back next game having learned more things to name means we all have to always be on our toes. The replay value is basically infinite is there is no single correct answer and your answers can change as you watch or read new things, so the game will stay relevant. This is a trivia game that lets you win based on your own knowledge not how well you know about topics the writers cared about.

You have to Absolutely know every answer...
I really wanted to love this game. The problem is I usually play board games when the power is out or if we are somewhere without power and the questions in this game do not have answers(because they are worded in such a way as to be relevant to current events, such as asking how man playable roles are their currently in a certain game) so the only way to actually play this game is with access to the internet to look up the answers, otherwise you will have the inevitable arguments over who is right and who is wrong with no resolution because the game won't provide you with the correct answer. We have all been there...you and your friends will argue for hours over some simple Trivia thing from one of your favorite Geek culture staples and never come to a resolution of who is right even after all of your friends have weighed in with their opinions. If they ever come out with a version that provides the answers to the questions so that you can actually play the game without Googling every question to verify it was answered correctly then I might consider buying it again. I have changed my review slightly....It is still upsetting to me that some of these cards we have to skip over because the questions are worded in such a way that adding answers would make the game out of date within days and none of us know the correct answer....However, I do realize that there is fun to be had in this game in certain circumstances. I have not found one of those circumstances but I am sure some people have them. I am increasing the star rating to 3 based on the fact that the game is still playable just not as much fun as it would be if no one knowing the answer didn't mean "skip the car and move on because no one knows" or "go check the Google machine"

This is a terrific party game
This is a terrific party game, allowing for supergeeks to really be in their element. We bought this and Pop Culture Party together and shuffled the cards, so there is always something for everyone. What we liked right away is the fact that the game comes with A TON of cards and a fair amount of categories, so there's not a huge chance you'll come across the same categories anytime soon. We have played about a half a dozen times, and we've still only managed to get through a quarter of the original deck or so. Shuffled with the Pop Culture Party edition, that means it'll literally be years before we loop back around to cards we've previously seen, much less actual categories we've previously played. The main criticism we have is that there are not many rules. If you play just according to the rules on the card, there's a lot of ambiguity, leaving plenty of room for arguments. Additionally, it really works best in big groups, just so no one gets bored or cards don't have to be skipped a lot. Modified with some house rules, this is a great game for people of all ages and abilities. We bring it out at parties, and everyone always has a wonderful time trying to one-up one another in geeky fun.

Great game, but nor for everyone.
Geek Out! is a ton of fun. My gaming group loves this game, and some of the trivia content is hard as nails. We usually play 1 - 2 games as a starter game before our more elaborate games on game night every weekend. However, it will cause fights in certain gaming groups. You may want to experiment with some house rules when playing with people in pub groups, because some geeks are passionate about their trivia knowledge, and some people throw some really obscure answers out there. This causes neckbeard fights of epic proportion that can make the game frustrating. Another thing to note is that this game IS NOT for families. If you bust this game out with your parents, grandparents, and various children before Thanksgiving dinner, they will not be entertained. The topics are quite obscure and if you or anyone in your group have any form of geek trivia you/they will steam roll the entire game.I suggest watching Wil Wheaton's Table Top episode about this game on Youtube. You'll get a good idea of whether or not this is for you.

Fantastic Game for Geeks & Nerds
This game is fantastic!! I highly recommend it for geeks and nerds, but be aware that anyone else might find it frustrating—in the group that I first played it with, two friends knew almost none of the answers except for the occasional Harry Potter question, so it obviously wasn't very fun for them. But for the nerds in the group (I consider myself more a "nerd" than a "geek," personally), there were lots of exciting moments, and multiple people fell over laughing. It felt good to finally put my years of totally useless trivia to use. >:)"Geek Out!" works well for 2 players or with a bigger group, and if some people aren't quite as good at this sort of trivia, you can put them in teams to even out the playing field a little more. For instance, I have a friend who knows a lot about sci fi and fantasy but very little about games or comics, so we paired her up with another friend who reads a lot of manga (comics) but is weaker in the other categories. If you consider yourself geeky in any way, and know a few others who are as well, I suggest you get this game. You won't regret it. :)
