Incredibly inspirational. I come from roots of metal music, hip hop, classical, some strange things I can't really think of any genre names for, and a few jazz maestros are getting me into jazz. Julian is one of them. Inspirational as a musician and attentive listener. Lively stuff.

if you bought this, you already know. if you are thinking about buying it, just youtube him for a bit. side effect of said recommendation is that you will end up buying all his albums, possibly a guitar. ultimately humble, reverant, tasty. tunes from the 1920's updated just a tad, explorations towards the future spread with just the right amount of butter. so much is conveyed in their playing, so much respect for the musicians and musicians past and the listener...anything i say will only be understatement, so to summarize: it's good stuff.

One of the best jazz guitarists. Performance is stripped down to exquisite basics. Choice of a telecaster was a bit unusual but spot on.

Lage is the most talented young guitarist in Jazz today. His earlier album, FREE FLYING, with Fred Hersch, is -in my opinion - one of the ten best jazz albums of all times. In ARCLIGHT, Lage continues to delight.
