Well finished & fairly large
I found this product description a little confusing as to what you actually get. Going by the top description, it seems teapot only, but the more info section starts talking about mug sets, so until it turned up, I wasn't entirely sure what it was that would be in the box. I can confirm that it is the teapot only. Hopefully Amazon will tidy this up and make it more clear. If you search "Umi Watercolour" you can find the matching mug set and the sugar bowl and milk jug too.As for the teapot, it comes well packaged, so you don't need to fear breakage in delivery. It's really nicely made and really quite large, I think 4-6 cups is honestly a little conservative, maybe my cups are small, but it was more like 8 good cups and I could've squeezed a bit more out still. The finish is really nice on the porcelain itself and it feels solid with some good weight. The watercolour pattern is only a print, rather than a hand painted finish, which is a bit of a shame at this price, but it does look good and being so minimal allows the teapot to retain a classical shape whilst still looking modern. I do think it's a touch overpriced, there are some really nice teapots on amazon for half the price of this, most however are super modern and smaller, so if you're looking for something with a traditional feel, then I guess this fits that niche very well. When you compare it to some of the large, famous department stores who sell a fair few traditional teapots, it's much nicer than most and also cheaper, so I suppose it's all relative.Overall I'd say if you're looking for a clean, modern looking traditional teapot, then this is definitely worth considering. The price is a little high but it does look and feel good quality and is well finished. I really like it and am sorely tempted to purchase the matching mug and saucer set, though I also think a plain white set will match it exceptionally well too.

Aesthetic appeal - and great functionality...
This is a beautiful teapot. It functions extremely well and I think, like me, you'll love it. But let's explore it in a bit more depth... Very well packaged, set in a solid foam that allows for no movement during transit and in a double walled corrugated box, this is without doubt a lovely teapot. It is made of porcelain which is a type of translucent bone china - but this teapot doesn't include cow bone like traditional bone china. Though bone china was popular here and in the USA, hard paste porcelain minus the cow bone was always more popular in Continental Europe and this appears to be what this Umi by Amazon teapot is made from.As a vegetarian for the past 50 years plus - I started early - and with a passion for ceramics I'd always been rather troubled by bone china, especially when used to serve food off. I'd wrongly always assumed cow bone was a means of strengthening the china - but my recent reading suggests it was included purely to produce a less white, more cream based end result. Essential? - I don't think so.This Umi teapot is slightly less translucent than the bone china that's been passed down to me, all of it now in the loft. But this is nonetheless a very aesthetically appealing teapot which strongly reflects some of the more contemporary designs being retailed by the likes of Wedgwood currently. As soon as you remove the teapot from its packaging you'll appreciate the quality. The silver banding is perfect and really elevates the design - but don't put it in the microwave of course. The 'Weave' design deep border is a silver grey/white - beautiful yet understated. This is what you really need to know - any drips? Absolutely not! This teapot pours perfectly and feels very well balanced. The handle is big enough to accommodate smaller and larger hands. Do gently hold the knop when pouring to ensure the lid remains in place. Chip and scratch resistant, I'm sure it's likely to be durable and a very useful 1200ml capacity - enough for 4-6 cups. Earthenware teapots of this capacity can be weighty. By comparison, this teapot is relatively lightweight so if weight's an issue, this is definitely one to consider....I'm considering getting the cups to match as I write.A smart, contemporary item of tableware, well designed and well manufactured which will complement both modern and traditional interiors, this teapot is more robust than you might imagine. It's likely to prove very durable and will add elegance to any table. Hand wash only - but it's worth it...

‘Hand-wash only; do not microwave’
Impeccably packed in a polystyrene-type inner mould within a sturdy Umi. cardboard box and exactly as currently pictured in the above stock images came this pretty duo in a shiny finish, creamy white coloured porcelain of:~ SUGAR POT with LID (Max. capacity around 400 ml)~ MILK JUG (Max. capacity around 250 ml)It was a challenge to get the sugar bowl & lid out of the inner! The ‘Watercolour’ effect on this piece is a shaded dark pink accent around the top of the bowl with gold colouring, including a thin band that matches the lid, the latter with a dinky little rounded knob. The bowl is rounded on a 5.5 cm base diameter and stands around 8 cm tall allowing for clearance of the top of the aforementioned knob. The lid measures around 6 cm overall diameter, with the indentation being around 5.5.cm and little play for rattle when in situ. The nicely shaped jug stands around 7.5 cm high and is enhanced by shaded green around the top, with a matching thin band of gold.It has a well-positioned, good sized, handle (3-finger wide in my case) and is a good pourer. Both pieces are a nice weight in hand when empty, suggesting a fine china rather than a porcelain, IMO.The sugar bowl may prove a challenge to pick up when full.Other pieces currently available in the ‘Umi. by Amazon Watercolour, with Gold Banding’ range include: TEAPOT DINNER SET for 1 12-PIECE DINNER SET SET of 4 SIDE PLATES SET of 4 DINNER PLATES CUP & SAUCER SET of 4 CUPS & SAUCERS SET of 4 COFFEE MUGS SET of 4 PASTA BOWLS (All product links correct at the time of writing)[7 images attached ~ apologies for reflection in some]
