Has some clever ideas
For the price of this book you get what you pay for. It is black and white newspaper type paper and no illustrations to go along with the recipes. That being said there are a lot of clever ideas that I would not have thought of on my own. It actually got my creative juices going once I realized all the things that can be made in my handy little pie irons. The recipes are divided by which pie iron you have but I noticed that with a little modification most recipes can be used in your basic square pie iron. There are no fancy recipes here, just good hearty camping food that will add a few inches to your belly.

Size
Much smaller than anticipated. It’s not big enough for a sandwich unless you cut the bread into a small square

Good ideas!
I had never even heard of a pie iron (where the heck have I been my whole camping life??) was looking at the camping gear and stumbled across this. Got as a gift for my husband who is an avid camper and cook....I think it is going to add a whole other level of fun to camp cooking! The recipes are really easy and cater to any level. They have some good ideas that you could customize. Can't wait!

decent book
This book isn't amazing but it definitely isn't bad. It is actually fairly small and only contains a handful of recipes. None of them are particularly creative or inspired and I would assume are actually available online. If you've giving a mountain pie maker as a gift, this book can definitely make a great addition to help people get started. However, if you are looking for something to take the deliciousness that are mountain pies to the next level of creativity and amazingness, definitely skip this book.Just as an added bonus for those who bought this book and were a little disappointed in its slim content, I will share one of my own favorite recipes.Ingredients:2 buttermilk biscuits flatteneddiced mix of onions/peppers (bell)/jalapenosshredded mozzarella cheesepepperonitomato sauceOil/butter (I know they say don't use butter, I haven't really had a problem as long as you burn it off later) the insides of the pie iron. Be liberal with your oil.Basically what you want to do is flatten one biscuit on each side of the pie iron, mix and then pack all the other ingredients in, then close the iron and cook it VERY SLOWLY over/in an open fire. I cannot emphasize enough that you need to do this slowly otherwise the outside will burn and the inside will be raw. Take your time and get the biscuits nice and goldenbrown on the outside. They will puff up really nice. It'll be like your own little pizza empanada. So so good....It's easy, the ingredients are very common and it is pretty quick to make even out by a campfire. Plus bread is boring. Why not give yourself a gut-bomb with super fatty biscuits!?

Delicious!
We used several of the recipes and ideas in this book on our last camping trip- best food we've ever had. If you haven't tried pie iron cooking, you're missing out. We had six adults and ten kids, six pie irons in constant rotation. Put out a nice buffet with suggestions from this book, and everyone had a blast- pizza pockets with pesto, chicken, garlic, green onions, peppers, pineapple, ham. Oh yes. . .we did. Loved it.

Great Accompaniment
I gave this as a gift to go with the pie iron I gave as a gift. This book contains recipes for each pie iron (round, square, double). The recipes are simple. The only thing that stops me from giving it 5 stars is that the photos aren't in color

Good little booklet
I ordered this when I got the Pie iron and the Hot dog cooker because it wasn't very expensive. Turns out to be a really nice little cook book. Lots of different ways to use you Pie iron or any of the other cast iron items the company sells. If you like to camp, not backpack, this book and the irons they have should always go with you.

I may need another
We are putting together a fire pit as a fund raiser for our local Relay for Life. I wanted to put some fun things in it. I found the pie iron then I found this neat little book. It had so many fun recipes, I may have to order myself a pie iron and one of these books for my back yard fire pit.
