Interesting And Enjoyable
As a fan of both Stephen Fry and Greek Mythology this had to be a win - win, and so it was. Interesting, enjoyable, insightful and humorous all woven togerher by Stephens wonderful writing made this a joy from beginning to end. A modern take on the Greek mythology offered was very easy to read, and i found myself saying 'so that where it comes from' when modern are shown to come from Ancient Greece. I loved it and look forward to his other books on the subject.

Charming and enthralling!
I love this book. I've always been interested in the Greek myths but this would be a lovely introduction for anyone who's not familiar with them. It's charmingly told and very easy to read (with lots of modern humour) and informative footnotes about how certain gods, goddesses, titans, giants, nymphs etc give their names to words we still use today. Stephen Fry is such a familiar personality that I can perfectly hear his voice as I'm reading which adds to the charm for me (I'm a BIG Fry fan so that's a bonus). Thoroughly recommended. :)

Oh, those Olympians!
So many gods (and goddesses, Titans and nymphs), so much jealousy, seduction, revenge and hubris. Written as funnily as the whole retinue of doggone Greek ancients can be laid out. I recently produced a play about Cassandra (and Dr. Faustus). That led to reading and seeing the Orestia, the murderous story of Orestes, Clytemnestra and Agamemnon. And now I know from Fry where that sad family's curse came from. Tantalizing!
