Spicy Thai Chili Skipjack Tuna, With No Need For Mayo
Although this tuna doesn't come from the higher quality albacore, skipjack tuna supposedly contains less mercury because of its smaller size and shorter life span. When mixed with a bit of oil and Thai chili sauce, as this is, it doesn't matter that the meat isn't as white or as firm. All that matters is flavor, and this has it. It's spicy and moist and can go right on a sandwich or salad without your having to add mayo or anything else. At only 80 calories per serving, it is a flavorful meal addition for when you're trying to cut calories but not protein. But you have to like spicy food. People who don't normally eat spicy hot food will find this overwhelming. Each packet contains 2.6 oz. of prepared tuna, a little less than half a regular-size can. Surprisingly, because most skipjack is caught in nets, this tuna is pole and line caught. I don't know what it means to be "individually caught from an MSC certified fishery in the Maldive Island, " since you usually don't go fishing in a fish farm. It is also a product of Thailand, which might be why it sought MSC certification, since that country isn't otherwise known for good seafood practices. Regardless, this package is labeled as coming from a sustainable fishery. These packets of tuna are great for a quick lunch or pack for camping or a hike. If you want, you can eat it right out of the bag. The shelf life of my packets are 14 months into the future.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Convenient, great tasting flavor, not at all mushy
My husband and I love canned and pouch tuna and consume it often. It's a healthy, tasty meal option that really helps us up our protein consumption.Canned tuna can go either way. When soaked in water or oil, sometimes the texture gets incredibly mushy resulting in a bland, flavorless tuna. Pouch tuna normally has a better texture and flavor which is definitely the case with the the Raincoat Global Mediterranean Tuna. This tuna is ready to eat. You just tear open the package and you are good to go! No draining, no mess! The skipjack tuna is seasoned with sundried tomatoes, water, olive oil, basil, oregano, and salt. I was afraid that some of those stronger flavors would overpower the tuna but they didn't at all! The natural tasting tuna flavor was still able to shine through without tasting overly fishy. We didn't find the tuna to be overly soft or mushy. It has just the right amount of firmness to it. We used ours in pita pockets and in wraps and it was delicious!I'm a little confused by the advertising. The title mentions that the tuna is caught in the Pacific Northwest but then it also says that it is pole and line caught from the Maldives. I did not deduct an additional star for this as I truly think this is just a clerical error. The title also mentions canned tuna and this is a pouch. Might be something to look at and correct!

This is a very tasty tuna. Sweet and spicy with a good bit of heat.
I don't normally comment about price to often anymore, but right off the bat, I like this product. You receive 6 packets for $10. This is awesome because it is pole and line caught. It is MSC (Marine Steward Council) certified. This means that it is certified not to methods that deplete natural supply. The fishing companies do not cause serious harm to other life in the sea. For my family, this is a big deal anymore. Not all of our fish is sustainably priced sometimes especially canned fish can get extremely expensive and is out of our budget, but I do seek out the places that offer fish that is responsibly caught and sustainable. For this tuna to be only $10 and MSC certified/ pole and line caught, this is very affordable for me.Opening the package- this tuna is literally able to be eaten out of the bag. It opens neatly and there is not a lot of liquid just enough to keep the tuna moist.Flavor- anymore, I can never judge when something is going to be spicy or not by reading the package or description. I have order spicy sushi from restaurants that can range from barely spicy to a much higher spice level than I care for. It makes purchasing foods difficult. In this case, thai chili has a lot of kick to it. This is NOT for someone who is spice heat intolerant. The flavor is sweet with a spicy kick. It is excellent tasting. The spice level I put around 6/7 on a scale of 1-10. 10 being the hottest. The flavor is so good though that I want to keep eating it and I am not one for super spicy foods.1 pouch is one serving. 80 calories. 14 grams of protein.

A Delicious And Convenient Way To Enjoy A Quick Meal Of Lean Protein
Rainforest Global Wild Skipjack Tuna is a delicious and convenient way to enjoy a quick meal of lean protein. The order includes six 74g pouches holding a tender, Mediterranean seasoned tuna. No need to drain the tuna, just tear open the pouch and the tuna is ready to eat. The Skipjack Tuna is paired with sundried tomato, water, olive oil, basil, oregano, and salt. It is the ideal size to make one sandwich or place on top of salad greens. I was initially concerned that the sundried tomatoes would overpower the tuna but I was happy to learn that it complimented the tuna beautifully. I enjoyed it as a tuna sandwich and added additional vegetables to compliment the tuna. It is a Product of Thailand. It is Dolphin Safe and Certified Sustainable Seafood MSC. There are 120 Calories, 5g Total Fat, 2g Total Carbohydrates, and 17g Protein in one pouch. It is a must have product to keep in the pantry, take when camping, and include in an earthquake preparation kit. The best by date for the product that I received is almost 3 years from the date that I received it. I really enjoyed the taste and texture of this tuna and I will definitely add another order to our Amazon cart.

Ready to eat tuna & with a nice zing to it!
This wild skipjack tuna is very tasty & goes great with pasta, salad or on a bun. Very flavourful & a nice zing at the end! I would order again👍Though a bit pricey but you are paying for pole & line caught, not enmass fishing plus ready to eat. You get what you pay for, 😊
