A body, a head, a rhino.
The Dakari Rhino is a quick creative project which could be developed further if you wanted to go on to paint it to bring it to life a bit more. When opening it up, there was a sense of disappointment. You have a sheet of instructions which are relatively easy to follow (a child may struggle though) and 2 pieces of pre- cut cardboard which are pre-scored so you know where to fold them. It took us just a few minutes to put together as it's not something my 3 year old could really help with. All it took was a few folds to create the body and then another couple for the head which had tabs to slot it onto the body so really quite simple but I did need the instructions to help. It doesnt really look like a rhino - more a dog with horns. It will hold its shape but would be easily squashed. At £7.50 it just seems so overpriced for 2 bits of cardboard. There are a couple of facts on the front of the sheet but I wouldn't say they learn much from it. Overall I'd give it 3 stars - it is ok for what it is.

It makes a good starting point for a craft project.
Although this cardboard rhino is made of quite robust card the actual packet it comes in is very flimsy and wasn’t very presentable which is a shame as it’s a good quality item. It’s very simple to make and only took a few minutes but the real joy is what you do with it after you’ve assembled it. My daughter (who is nearly 6) couldn’t follow the instructions herself so I think it would be suited more for an 8 plus if you were looking for them to be able to make it independently. Having said that making it together was very special, my daughter enjoyed popping out the bits of card that form the holes. We made the rhino and the instructions encourage you to be as creative as possible with it so we decided to turn our rhino into rudolf! This took much longer than the initial build and was lots of fun. We trimmed his horn popped a sticker over the hole and painted it brown. When dry we popped some pipe cleaners in for antlers, goggly eyes, bauble nose and two button stars and some wool for his reigns. We used a biscuit tray to make a sleigh and wrapped some small boxes as presents and used a knitted Santa we already had to ride the sleigh. All in all a few hours work, it now has pride of place under our Christmas tree. My daughter loves it!At the time of this review it is unavailable so I cannot comment on price but I’d have said in the £5 region would be acceptable for what you get and at that price point I’m happy to recommend.

Not worth it
Not very easy to install, you need to decipher the instructions after that it's a easy job. Need to bold the cardboard exactly. It's not for the kids. I've allowed my daughter to paint it. For what it does it's too expensive. When she was painting it, began to fold. I won't recommend.

Too hard for young children to construct.
This arrived in basic but adequate packaging with picture instructions of how to build it. I thought this would be lovely to do with the grandchildren but decided to have a dry run with it first. I received the Savanna Giraffe and although there is only three pieces it took me much longer to put it together than I thought it would. I folded all of the places marked before starting. It took me a little time to work out exactly what I was doing but once I did it was much better. Some of the tags that hold it together take a bit of pushing through the holes but they need to be tight so they don't pop back out.I was very happy with the end result and it has stayed together and feels very sturdy. I decided that this is a little too hard for my grandchildren to construct even with help. It is 11 inch tall (28cm) so a good size.Age 5 and 6 but I know that they will love painting it so it's a happy ending. It looks great. I think for the money it is very good value.

Quite disappointing
We do a lot of paper engineering, so we are not easily impressed. This cardimal is made from a couple of sheets of carboard. The instructions are straightforward. In a short space of time, our daughter completed the static creature, then immediately lost interest in it.The biggest negative is that the model is not recognisable a rhino and I doubt that any decoration can improved that much. It reminds me more of Dr Who's canine robot.I also feel that it would be much better to sell a design book for card animals, rather than packaging sheets of plain cardboard with instructions.

Short life arts and crafts activity
Great little arts and crafts project to keep the kids entertained or even an adult. No extras such as glue or scissors needed which is brilliant. Couple of mixed points really. It is great for a rainy day or during lockdown but it doesn't really take that long to make. It is easy which is good in a way but not brilliant if you are looking for something more engaging, to get a little more time from it then get the kids to colour or paint it. It is non toxic and environmentally safe but also quite flimsy. It came well packaged and quite quickly but isnt really cheap considering technically it is just cardboard. If your looking for maybe an hour, two at a push if painting activity and happy with the price then I would recommend it.

3D cardimals
Delivered by Royal mailThis arrived packed inside a cardboard envelope. Inside is a packet that has all of the cardboard pieces to build your Cardimal , in my case a Rhino . Made up from precut lengths of card with slots and instructions this is a great way to build up a collection . Priced at £6.47 they aren't cheap so I wouldn't recommend buying for a younger child .I found building it using the detailed instructions easy and quite therapeutic .In my opinion it's slightly overpriced hence the removal of one star .

Great idea but tends to fall apart
This is an excellent eco-friendly choice of a toy but it tends to fall apart easily when you are putting this together, so is trickier for children. We use some tape to 'glue' ours together & painted it over with so called roll out dry paints. It is quite large for a build-yourself animal and chunky, so can be used a display item once your kid manages to build it up. A gteat aspect of this toy is you can easily personalise it and make it more dear for yourself.
