Great book and top service.

Emily Dickinson kleidet unsere innersten Gefühle in Worte, auf die man nie kommen würde, und wenn man sie dann so liest, ist es, als ob sich alle Sorgen und Hemmnisse verflüchtigen würden. Ein wunderbarer Band – ein stiller Begleiter im Alltag.

This review is for the paperback edition from "Wordsworth Poetry Library". It's the 214-page edition. I have to specify this because Amazon sometimes mixes the reviews from different versions/editions of the same book.This book is good quality; the paper is opaque and "paperback-quality" but it's ok, sturdy enough and not transparent at all.Sadly the poems represented here are taken from the three published volumes, which means they have Higginson's "revisions and corrections" over Dickinson's work (corrected spell, meter and punctuation, and added titles), which is not what I was looking for; but for the price, this is still a good book.

This book is really good value for money - although the pages do have the fuzzy-dull feeling of cheaper paper. But it really doesn't matter, because with nearly 200 pages of selected poems, including the posthumously published volumes categorized as `Life, Love, Nature, Time and Eternity', Emily Dickinson's work is well represented. There is a short, useful introduction by Emma Hartnoll that gives a brief mini-biography of Emily and a quick mention of the sources that may have inspired her work. All in all, this book is an affordable introduction for students discovering the poet for the first time and an inexpensive way for older folk to renew their acquaintance with this extraordinary lady. Where else nowadays could you read a word like `behooveth' in perfect context? (14 `The Secret', P8). The five stars are for content - that is the poems of Emily Dickinson - but also for Wordsworth Editions for the inexpensive price of this small volume.
