Brilliant reading
Like all the others in this series by the late Donald R. Burgett, he tells it as it really was. Totally riveting and you don't want to put it down. None better, in my opinion.

Rivetting Account of the Experience of Combat in War
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to experience combat in the military this is the book for you. Sargent Burgett did an outstanding job of putting down his actual experiences of being a line soldier in the 101st Airborne this book was riveting and a real page turner; very well written and easy to read.My continued praise to the veterans of WW2 there are so few of them still surviving, Sargent Burgett passed away in March of this year 2017.I also praise and pray for our current military and there families for their service to our country they are my heroes!

Best explanation of Market Garden available
Best explanation of Market Garden available. He doesn't describe British disaster at Arnhem but that is understandable. Burgett's books are an invaluable resource for any battle he was in. There is a good British documentary called the real history of Market Garden (or something like that) on Youtube but is marred by blaming the British failure on American General Gavin. The British deserve a lot of WW2 credit, but Market Garden was a huge mistake. Montgomery (and Churchill) just wanted to steal a bigger share of the final credit for victory than they deserved. Why Eisenhower approved this operation is beyond me.
