Damp Rid Refill Bag, 42 oz-2 pk

Had several used Damp Rid plastic tubs (10.5 oz), which got emptied and cleaned. Adding the fragrance-free, refill Damp Rid crystals means extended use of the original plastic tubs - a win. Damp Rid is easy to use, absorbs moisture from the air, inhibits mold, mildew & musty odors. It's especially useful in a stored RV as no electricity or power is needed for Damp Rid. Supposedly DampRid is "effective for up to 45 days in areas up to 250 sq. ft." According to Damp Rid, "Simply discard and replace when the all-natural crystals have dissolved." However, in the dry SW, it takes many months before the crystals get gooey with some water collected in the bottom of the tub. Even after nearly a year, the crystals do not completely dissolve nor has water filled the Damp Rid tub (even in bathroom). In a high-humidity or high-temperature area the crystals in a tub would need to be replaced sooner. Will rebuy.

First, I'm amused that the Amazon rating features offered "warmth" and "stretch" as star-rating categories. I didn't try to wear these Damp Rid crystals, so I am unable to comment on their coziness and fit. However, as refills for the plastic cups I keep in our two downstairs closets. they're great! I was unhappy to discover that in the original Damp Rid cup, the crystals also contained yellow scent beads which are plastic and do not degrade / cannot be flushed. I am happy that these refills do not contain those beads.

The pellets work well when there is moisture in the air of your home. My basement gets water coming in every now & then when there's a continuous deluge of rain (i.e. 24 - 48 hours). After vacuuming up the water (with a Wet / Dry vacuum) I just put some of the pellets into the containers and water is absorbed in several days. You just pull the pellet-holder out of the container and pour the liquid into the toilet. Then re-add some more pellets for the next encounter of excessive water. The water is in bottom of the container and the pellets are in the pellet-holder that you pull out; so, if you still have pellets in the holder, you obviously won't be throwing that in the toilet - just the liquid.

Based on what I could see in the product description, I thought I was getting the unscented version of the Damp Rid product, but these were scented. I returned them. Other than that, I like the Damp Rid products, they seem to work well for reducing humidity in storage closets and storage containers.

We buy these over and over. We use it to refill our damp rid containers. We keep one in each room of the house and 4 in the RV. We empty the water every 2 to 3 months and put the refill in and put them back in place. In the house we put them in the windows during the winter. Works really great to keep down the condensation. We had on room that always smelled musty but doesn’t anymore.

DAMP RID is an amazing product even for those of us who don’t live in a humid climate. We’ve used it for years under our kitchen sink to prevent mold and mildew. I bought this refill and cleaned my brand name container which was full of water/fluid that had collected from the pipes and garbage that I keep under the sink. All the fresh vegetable and fruit scraps are very moist, so DAMP RID has been kept under our kitchen sink for decades. It’s essential for our home here in the Central Valley of CA.

Seems to work. Thank goodness it doesn't have any smell like the Lavender scented DampRid. The lavender ones give me a headache and have such a strong scent you can hardly be near it! I felt like it was coating my lungs and sinus cavities. If you have any smell sensitivities, are prone to migraines triggered by scents, don't buy the lavender scented, buy this!

Used this to refill the old Damprid containers we had on hand to use in our trailer to keep moisture down during the winter months. This is a great product that works exactly as described to reduce moisture and the 42oz bag is a great cost savings over buying new containers.
