Midgard Heroes Handbook for 5th Edition

The Midgard Heroes Handbook is a great supplement that fully encapsulates the ethos of Kobold Press. There are races and subraces; subclass archetypes; new weapons and combat rules; many, many new spells; new magic mechanics (runes); a few monster stat blocks; and a handful of magic items. Each of these is modular (even within each category), so DMs can pick and choose which rules/the level of complexity they want to import to their table.Game balance usually comes second to flavor here, but on the whole I've found the additions to be balanced well against core options. Even the things I chose not to hand my players provided good food for thought that often show up in other ways.I highly recommend this book for DMs who enjoy digging into mechanics and have a clear vision for how they want their games to play, e.g., power users. If you're new to 5e, this will be a thought-provoking read, but I encourage you to learn how the engine works before you add a turbocharger.

O livro possui “apenas” 211 páginas, não o absurdo de 360 páginas que consta na bio da Amazon (o livro tbm não é da Paizo, é da Kobold Press, mas vai entender a Amazon.) É capa dura, qualidade e acabamento muito bom, o papel não é o mesmo usado nos livros da Wizards, mas ainda sim é muito bom. Eu pessoalmente acho o apelo visual do 5nd D&D melhor, mas isso é gosto pessoal. Quanto ao conteúdo, o livro usa o universo da Kobold Press como base, mas na minha opinião pode ser usado em qualquer campanha pessoal sem problemas e é facilmente adaptado para outras oficiais, tudo dependendo da critividade do mestre e jogadores. Considero o conteúdo desse livro mais rico, denso e significativo do que o apresentado no Xanathar’s Guide, mas não é em sua maior parte o mesmo tipo de conteúdo. Acho que um complementa o outro e não substitui. Foi uma ótima aquisição, acredito que no Brasil não tem chegado melhor conteúdo para o quinta edição como a Kobold Press tem oferecido e a Amazon trazido (mesmo com mais de meio ano de atraso) .

If you want to enrich your D&D 5ed experience with additional races, class archetypes and spells, this book is great for you.Must have product for Midgardians.

This is the (October 2018) hardback version with 211 pages. It's full colour, with non-glossy paper within. The book build quality is good, with stitched and glued binding. It feels worthy of an often to be used rule book.The artwork is absolutely excellent. They've gone for fewer but better full colour art pieces, rather than a lot of cheaper line art. I really like the art style in this book.The written content is aimed at player characters, with information on character creation and advancement within the Midgard setting, to be clear though, this book requires the core Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition handbooks to be able to play. It's a setting specific book, not a replacement for the D&D 5th Edition Players Handbook.It extensively covers character creation of the playable races of Midgard (Bearfolk, Centaurs, Dhampir, Dwarves, Elves, Gearforged, Gnolls, Elfmarked, Humans, Kobolds, Minotaurs, Ratfolk, Ravenfolk, Shadow Fey, Trollkin and Winter Halflings), along with extensive chapters on Martial, Roguish, Divine and Arcane career paths and Feats.There is a chapter on Ley Lines and Geomancy, Ring Magic and Rune Magic. Which covers just about enough detail to enable players to make use of it. Along with 63 pages of spells.This is a fabulous players handbook for the Midgard D&D 5E setting and is highly recommended for players and dungeon masters.

Not quite what I was expecting but it does match the description. I was expecting a large book of heroes. This book is more of a small pamphlet for hero characters. Like maybe a companion guide? I am new to reading these type of RPG books so maybe a more Veteran player would get more out of it... for me I just enjoy reading it. Therefore, 5 stars!
