Very, very funny!
It took me a while to get into this book but, I'm glad that I persevered with it. The story was hilariously funny and I found myself rooting for both the judge and detective sergeant throughout. You can't leave it with both of the main characters so terribly wronged. Surely, there will be a sequel when both Judge Mentall and Det. Sgt. Tadler get their revenge.

Funny story, but with distractions
Great story well told. Lots of funny bits about corrupt-ish policemen and their self-regarding bosses, intellectually pedestrian lawyers, incompetent crims and self-serving care home owners... just what you always suspected! Unfortunately this well-told and funny story is littered with grammatical errors: comma splices abound, and basic errors such as “routing around” (should be “rooting around”) are distracting. Never mind - it’s still worth a read.

I laughed out loud.
This book has great pace. It’s very amusing and reminded me of Tom Sharpe. It’s a gloriously cynical view of the judiciary, the police and criminal low life. It’s a bit worrying that it could actually have some basis in fact!

Kidnapped Judge
Basically, a useless Crown Court Judge (not that there is such a thing in real life) gets kidnapped. Read it for several chapters, but it wasn't really funny and there didn't seem much story. Perhaps it improves as the book goes on, but I stopped reading it about a quarter of the way through, as it just didn't interest me enough to carry on reading.

Well Worth a Read
Tom Sharpe inspired chaotic humour, without quite achieving the same descriptive quality of chaos. For Sharpe fans, though, well worth a read, if only to draw comparisons. If the reader enjoyed this book and has never read Sharpe, they should quickly procure and read some of his early works for a real treat.

What just happened!!!!!!
Enjoyed the colourful characters and nicely paced prose but what happened at the end? Just stopped dead!!!! Strange, n maybe there is a follow up novel - will keep my eyes peeled.
